Patriots statement

Posted by Mike Reiss, Globe Staff May 13, 2008 03:37 PM

The Patriots released the following statement today:

"We want to address the allegation that the Patriots taped the Rams’ walkthrough prior to Super Bowl XXXVI. For the past three-and-a-half months, we have been defending ourselves against assumptions made based on an unsubstantiated report rather than on facts or evidence. Despite our adamant denials, the report ran on February 2, 2008, the day before Super Bowl XLII. That game was the second-most watched program in television history and it is unfortunate that today’s news will not also reach an audience of that size. We hope that with Matt Walsh's disclosures, everyone will finally believe what we have been saying all along and emphatically stated on the day of the initial report: 'The suggestion that the New England Patriots recorded the St. Louis Rams' walkthrough on the day before Super Bowl XXXVI in 2002 is absolutely false. Any suggestion to the contrary is untrue.'”

  1. This means the witchhunt will end, right? People will move on and start trying to destroy the Patriots on the field instead of in the media, right? Yeah, right.

I have a list of idiot "journalists" who saw fit to print rumor and innuendo, but it's too long to post here.

  1. Clearly Arlen Specter needs to reconvene The Warren Commission.

The idea that this on-going outrage --- so inconsistent with everything but the actual history of every franchise in the NFL -- can be quashed by a lack of any tangible, credible evidence -- without allowing it to drag on gives such august institutions as the New York Times (Jason Blair, etc) a black eye.

Justice must be served, even if there's nothing to sink our teeth into.
Crucify Bellichek, and then dig him up and crucify him again. Just because George Hallas, Lamar Hunt, Jimmie Johnson, Bill Parcells etc. say its been done for years, we must dig further.

    Just because such HOFers as

  1. They cheat. Cheat a lot. For years they cheat. New things did come out. Walsh and others knew they were doing something wrong. The tapes went to Belicheat's right hand man. Now the Patriots, who say they didn't cheat at the walkthrough for the Superbowl, are INDIGNANT? What right do they have to be indignant? They are cheaters!
