Rookie FA signings
It has not been uncommon for the Patriots to sign a player as a rookie free agent and then have the player make the final 53-man roster. CB Randall Gay, DL Mike Wright and OLB Pierre Woods all earned a spot via that route in recent years.
With that in mind, here is a list of this year's players signed as rookie free agents:
EXTRA POINT: We previously reported that Alabama DE/OLB Keith Saunders was signing a rookie free agent deal with the team. That information was incorrect. Saunders will not be joining the club.

BenJarvus Green-Ellis? Is that for real?
Is he related to Ben Coates, Jarvis Green, or Ellis Hobbs?
Mike, Was Keith Saunders (Alabama) signed as well?
Paul, I received bad information on Keith Saunders. He is not signing with the team.

"Benjarvus Green-Ellis... sounds like a combination of Ben Watson, Jarvis Green, and Ellis Hobbs! Frankenstein football!!" - Dude
Have either Jamie Silva or Dunbar from BC been picked up yet, I really thought Silva had a shot, he played great against Mich St and I thought that would of helped.
Looks like there are 79 players signed to contracts.
If so, there is one roster slot left for tryout players.
silva got signed by the Colts
Whoa!, I don't think I've ever been quoted before...
I can see the problems this could cause in training camp when Bill calls BenJarvus Green-Ellis, and he gets 4 players coming up to him instead of one.
"Hey, he called me" "Uh, no man, I think he called me" ....
Maybe they could find players with names like "TomRandy Moss-Seymour" or MikeJunior Seau-Richard, etc, etc. That would totally screw up the announcers.
With any other coach, you could dismiss it as an odd coincidence.
But what does Belichick have to gain by having a player whose name contains the exact substring of another player's full name, and the first names of two others?
We should start examining methods that handle roster names. He's got to be exploiting a loophole somewhere...
