BOLTON -- An assortment of comments from players who spoke with reporters today at the Patriots Charitable Foundation Golf Tournament at The International:
CB Ellis Hobbs on his offseason. “It’s going well. Just rehabbing. We got the [shoulder and sports hernia] surgeries out of the way, thank goodness, and I feel a lot better now than I did at the end of the season, as far as physically.”
CB Ellis Hobbs on his potential availability for training camp. "I don’t know that, I just know that when I’m ready I’ll be out there, whether it’s the start of camp, the middle of camp, whenever it is. I know that each day we’re getting better. As long as I continue to string days along where I have the confidence to go out there and perform at a high level, then I’ll get out there.”
QB Tom Brady on the mindset of players over the next six weeks, with the offseason program winding to an end. “Just try to get a little bit of rest. I think it was a good three weeks of spring camps. I think the team felt pretty good, and I know Coach Belichick is pleased with where we’re at. Hopefully we can get some rest and stay in shape. It’s a critical six weeks because when you get back, there is no letting up for a long time. You have to try to get a little rest, but at the same time, stay in shape and stay focused.”
QB Tom Brady on his feelings about the approach of players coming back to work after the tough Super Bowl loss. "I think Coach Belichick always makes a point to us to say: 'I’ve been a part of championship teams, I’ve been a part of seasons that were terrible, and the fact of the matter is that no one gives a [care] either way. This is 2008. It’s a new year. Nobody cares about what you did last year, good or bad.' I think the team really takes to that and we’ll be excited once it starts. I’m glad we’re all going to have an opportunity to go out there and get back on the field and do what we love to do.”
DL Richard Seymour on building a base in the offseason. "This is really the first year in the last two that I’ve been able to hit the ground running [without injuries], so to speak. That doesn’t say what you’ll do during the season, but I’m definitely five times better than I was the last two seasons. I’m definitely excited at this point. I’m definitely excited to get this season going.”
S Rodney Harrison on the NBA Finals -- Lakers vs. Celtics. "I’m kind of split on that one, I played out in San Diego for nine years, so I was a big Lakers fan. Obviously being here, I like the Celtics as well. They’re up 2-0, they still have to go back to L.A. I like Sam Cassell and Paul Pierce and those guys, so the best team will win.”
If Seymour says he is completely healthy that is a huge positive.
And with Adalius Thomas coming off his edge ... that will be one fierce pass rush with Wilfok only getting better and Warren is already a stud on the other end of the 3-4
And lets not forget about Jarvis Green, who might get the least amount of recognition for his performance
Hobbs still hasn't learned what being a Patriot is all about. Don't talk so much!! Especially about injuries. I have a feeling all his blabber about his aliments are gonna open a can of worms with last years injury reports. Hobbs, just shut up! Be seen, not heard.
