Tom Brady checks in

FOXBOROUGH -- The Patriots concluded the second practice of their mandatory mini-camp, working in extreme heat and humidity on the upper fields behind Gillette Stadium this morning.

After the session, quarterback Tom Brady answered questions from reporters. The Boston Globe's Christopher L. Gasper was there, and passes along the following comments from Brady:

  • On his ankle and if he's been able to participate in the offseason program as much as in the past. "The ankle feels great. It feels really good. I've been able to do pretty much everything. I'm still slow. I still can't jump. I still don't lift very much, that hasn't changed."

  • On turning 31 in August, if he still has the same passion for football as he did when he was younger. "Sure. Sure. I think all of us do. It's a lot of fun to play and I think all of us are fortunate to be able to physically play and mentally deal with all the things you need to deal with as an athlete. I think we all realize that we're way overpaid. It's fun for everyone to come out here and to play. I'm always excited to be out here. This is what I love to do."

  • On the return of Randy Moss for a second season with the Patriots. "Randy and I, we have a great relationship. I know this is the place he wanted to be, and we wanted him. So usually the contract situations work out when that happens. You guys have seen him out here the past few days, he's in great shape. It was a great way to start his Patriots career last year. I'm sure he's hoping to find ways to improve the things he needs to improve on. It's great to have him out there."
