Posted by Gary Dzen, Boston.com Staff July 8, 2008 07:27 PM

Patriots running back Kevin Faulk has pleaded no contest to misdemeanor possession of marijuana, stemming from an incident this February, according to KATC-TV in Louisiana.

Faulk will have his 5-month jail term suspended and will be given a one-year supervised probation with several conditions, according to the television station. He will have to pay a fine of $300 along with $231 in court costs and a $250 fee for a drug analysis. In addition, he will have to perform 40 hours community service and complete 20 hours of a substance abuse program.

On Feb. 22, Faulk was found with four hand-rolled cigars filled with the illegal substance while attending a Lil' Wayne rap concert in his home state of Louisiana.

  1. This shouldnt even be published, its such a non-issue. Please. who cares if someone smokes weed vs cigarettes. Cigarettes and alcohol are far more harmful to you and others. The gov doesnt want us to use the harmless stuff because it has beneficial side effects.

  1. I applaud the Krafts for coming down hard on domestic violence with Willie Andrews and coming down soft on Kevin Faulk. Threatening girlfriends with guns hurts people. Smoking pot is in a different class entirely.

  1. It was easy to come down hard on Willie Andrews. He's replaceable. If Faulk had the gun charge, he wouldn't have been cut.
