  1. My question is how the Patriots could afford to keep Matt Cassel on the roster these last three years. The Pats are so fortunate Brady has been healthy because if he had gotten hurt they would have been in a world of hurt.

IMO, you have to have an experienced backup QB. The Pats sign John Lynch but do nothing to address the backup QB issue. The Colts are in the same boat if Peyton got hurt..

BB ia rolling the dice - big time!

  1. Say what you want about David Carr but the guy is an experienced QB. How can BB go into the season with Cassel or Guiterrez as the backup? With Brady's foot problems I find it almost inexcusable that the Pats would not have brought in an experienced QB early in training camp.

  1. Uh, do you forget where Brady came from? He wasn't an experienced backup QB. I'd rather have the team's fate in the hands of an unknown commodity like O'Connell that at least has potential to become great than some re-tread back-up QB.

Thank god you don't run NFL teams. You think O'Connell could carry this team over a 5 game stretch? Are you out of your mind? He was competing against guys that will be flipping burgers next week. Good lord.
