Cassel meets the media
Patriots backup quarterback Matt Cassel met with the media Tuesday to discuss his performance in Sunday's 27-10 loss to Tampa Bay in the Patriots' second exhibition game of the preseason.
The Globe's Chris Gasper said Cassel seemed unflappable in front of a swarm of reporters and showed some "California cool" in assessing his performance.

"What, me worry?"
Maybe he should stop acting cool and start playing well
I think if you put this in perspective with Belichick's press conference today, you can see the picture. They run plays that may not work well against the defense that they are looking at. I don't think(other than his habit of being over excited on his first pass or two) you would see the same Cassel in the regular season if for some reason Brady wasn't able to go.
I suspect Cassel is here for another year and he's facing an uphill battle to keep the position from OConnell next year. I think this means Guit is the odd man out, assuming they don't keep 4 and let Cassel go next year.
Seriously, Did he plagiarize both Rex Grossman and Chad Pennington in his responses? Either that, or he's looking at politics as his career post-Pats.
Why is he still on the team?
I'm curious why so many people seem to be knocking all three of our backup QBs. I've been very impressed with Kevin O'Connell. He's made a couple of mistakes like his opening pick last Sunday, but my impression is that he's shown nice mobility, great poise, and the ability to take a hit. And don't forget that his receivers are dropping catchable passes left and right. I think this kid is a winner...
