Faulk and the 53-man roster

Posted by Mike Reiss, Globe Staff August 30, 2008 02:08 PM

Running back Kevin Faulk, who has been suspended by the NFL for the first game of the season, will not count against the Patriots' 53-man roster limit.

In one sense, this is almost a benefit to the Patriots. They know they'll have Faulk for Week 2 against the Jets, but at the same time they can keep a player -- or sign/claim a player from another team -- in which they normally wouldn't have had room for on the roster.

  1. Lamont Jordan as the 3rd down back while Faulk is out should do just fine.
