Faulk suspended 1 game

Posted by Mike Reiss, Globe Staff August 30, 2008 12:26 PM

The NFL released the following information today:

Kevin Faulk of the New England Patriots has been suspended without pay for the team’s first regular-season game and fined one additional game check for violating the NFL Substance Abuse Policy.

Faulk’s suspension for the Patriots' first regular-season game will begin on Saturday, August 30. He is eligible to return to the Patriots’ active roster on Monday, September 8 following the team’s September 7 opener against the Kansas City Chiefs.

The possibility of Faulk's suspension was first reported by Adam Schefter of the NFL Network.

  1. Mike,

Since the suspensions seem to be taking place now, is Kaczur in the clear for his misdeeds?

  1. This is just another slap in the face from the puke who's a former Jets employee if he's going to suspend Kevin then he has to suspend the drunk driver in Buffalo,Marshawn Lynch all he did was Run a lady over with his and went home like it wasn't a good idea to hang around for the police to show up!!! This is a Goodell special, oif you are a patriot I'm going to suspend you, lets eee what happens when one of his Jets or Giants does something minor....

  1. Mike, I asked this question back when we were reviewing our Running Backs during camp. Everybody on the message board said, "no" or why would he be suspended? It is getting a little tiresome dealing with the rose colored glasses around here. People are not objective on these boards at all. They sound pretty stupid when you read their comments. I am a huge Pats fan, but hey, the guy was caught with the pot. He deserves to be suspended. Oh, I get it, because he's a Patriot, that's okay and he shouldn't be? Get a clue. Oh, and I 'm sure Goodell is in on some conspiracy just against the Pats. Again, get a clue.

  1. Sportsbozo1, i could not agree with you more, roger godell can seriously rot in hell. what is worse 2 joints in your pocket, our nearly killing a woman while your drinking and driving, then driving away. if Marshawn Lynch was in a Patriots uniform, you can bet he would be suspended for at least four games. the NFL has some serious issues with the patriots, and it is not going to end here, this crap will continue and it is a shame. i can't even watch the nfl network anymore, i hate the rest of the league now.

  1. Mike, didn't Faulk actually test NEGATIVE for drugs after his arrest? If so, on what grounds is he being suspended under the substance abuse policy? How can not using a drug (according to the test result) be considered substance abuse?

  1. I can see his point, though. Marshawn Lynch should also miss a game, at least.

  1. Lynch wasn't found guilty and DRUG use isn't minor, don't worry your Pats will be OK!!!
