Practice attendance
It's "Family & Friends" night here at Gillette Stadium, with tonight's in-stadium practice being held in front of a small crowd sitting behind the Patriots' normal bench area.
There are 17 players not spotted on the field for this workout, giving this the feel of a regular-season practice in terms of roster size:
New CB Jeff Shoate is donning jersey No. 23, last worn by Willie Andrews.
Mike Reiss, Christopher L. Gasper and the rest of the Globe team provide regular updates –and a behind-the-scenes look– on the daily happenings of the Patriots.

Wow...thats a lot of players out. Guys may just make the team by being healthy.
Steven Neal is really hurt a lot ....He's a first string guard, but on theplaying field not in the training room.....In order to be a great offensive line you have to know each other and what your individual strengths and weaknesses are....
That way you can "cover" each other at times during the game working as a unit !!!
Neal is really bordering on someone you can't count on !!@!
