Thoughts from pre-game warmups

Posted by Mike Reiss, Globe Staff August 28, 2008 06:40 PM

A few thoughts to pass along from pre-game warmups:

  • The first-string defense is esentially intact tonight and it took repetitions, so it might be a case where the coaching staff would like to see a bit more from the defense to build some momentum heading into the season.

  • Matt Light is back with the first unit offensive line at left tackle. That has bumped Wesley Britt to second-string left tackle.

  • Veteran Mike Flynn looks like he'll serve as the backup center. How he handles shotgun snaps will be something to watch.

  • Matt Cassel took the first-team reps at quarterback, followed by rookie Kevin O'Connell. That could be an indication that Matt Gutierrez has done enough to earn a roster spot.

    1. Please Mike - tell us you're joking. Cassel again? What's left to prove? We already know he's the worst QB Belichick has ever coached. Gute needs reps with the first team O.
