Posted by Mike Reiss, Globe Staff August 26, 2008 01:22 PM

FOXBOROUGH -- The Patriots are holding their afternoon practice on the lower field behind Gillette Stadium, and quarterback Tom Brady was not present for the media-access portion of the workout.

Media members were on hand for stretching and one special teams drill.

Wide receiver Wes Welker was also among a group of players not at the media-access portion of the workout.

  1. Are you kidding me? This whole thing is Drama Theather.

It's all about not showing your cards. And Belechick ain't showin' nothin'!!

Read back a week or two to Reiss's Blog Practice Entries. Brady, Moss, Welker and this offense were on fire. The word "intense" and "sprinted" have been used when talking about Brady.

Now the Offensive Line is a bit concerning. That's a wait and see?

But Tom Brady? I think he's 100% ready to roll!

  1. this is all cat and mouse stuff...

brady could be present for the non-media portion of practice...

Bill was tired of making a mockery of the injury reports so now he is on to "who is/isn't there for the start of practice report."

I think it would be great if brady showed up in a cast for the media portion of practice tomorrow.

  1. Tom Brady will probably not play on Thursday night. Why not give

the reps to the three quarterbacks who will play?

  1. Please go panic for another team, Carl. It's umm you know, just sports.

  1. NEED TO SIGN TY LAW. EARLY SEASON LINES TAKE PATS OPPONETS AND POINTS UNTIL 6TH GAME. 10-6 WILL WIN DIVISION AND THEN BARING INJURIES TO SEYMOUR GREEN OR MOSS THEY COULD PEAK DURING JANUARY. ON THE OTHER SIDE WHO CAN TAKE THEM? ONLY SAN DIEGO, THE COLTS, OR WATCH OUT FOR CLEVELAND. COACHING IS EVERYTHING IF YOU HAVE TALENT AND CLEVELAND COULD EMERGE, BUT SHOULD BE PATS COLTS IN INDY FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIP AND PATS WIN IT ON STEADY GROUND ATTACK REDEMPTION FOR TROY BROWN PASS INTERFERENCE CALL AND BLOWN 21-3 LEAD IN '07

  1. Anyone that follows football knows that the Super Bowl loser tends to have a carry over problem the next year. I mean they were the most dominant regular season team in modern time and they lost. The Super Bowl loss was devastating.

Let's hope that when Brady is back he is 100% if not they could easily miss the playoffs if he is not at QB.

  1. I think this is all a big scheme to make sure that all the backups for the Patriots get as many reps with the first unit to see who the primary backup to Brady is going to be...I would imagine that if Thursday's game against the Giants was a regular season game, Brady would be listed probable with a shoulder and play like nothing was bothering him...

On that note, I think that Scott Pioli and BB are on the phone with John Gruden about obtaining one of their 37 QB's...I don't think giving up a 6th round draft pick for say a Chris Sims is all that bad, and Sims would be a HUGE upgrade over Casell...on a brighter note, I am hoping Guiterrez gets the start Thursday to see what he can do with the first team because he looked really good in the second half of the Eagles games with the backups...

  1. Brady can party it up at the Hard Rock last night, but couldn't practice today.
    Interesting.

  1. Much ado about nothing boys. Pats win SB. Jackson has breakout season. Morris, Jordan, Maroney running combination punishes opponents. LT cries again and contemplates suicide after losses to Pats in regular season and in AFC Championship game.

  1. I don't know what we are going to do without Tommy, he might retire and become a model.

  1. They need to sign Vincent Brown, Hog Hannah, Vincent Brisbie, and Harl Lee Dykes.

  1. I heard from a source that Brady is close to going on the IR and will need surgery.

Posted by Michael August 26, 08 06:38 PM
  1. My thoughts! I don't think the reports of Tom Brady's demise to surgery and the IR are accurate. If they were, we would have already see a veteran QB in camp via trade, or otherwise. I don't think Chad Jackson is the real deal. It seems like he runs the wrong routes too often for a 2nd round pick in his third year. The OL definitely concerns me. I don't understand why BB underrates this position. It protects the franchise and makes holes for the RB. Matt Light is too slow for a LT and speed rushers. The RT position has been in flux. Outside of Mankins, I think our OL is overrated, despite the 3 Pro Bowlers. This was exposed beyond comprehension in the SB. PLease sign Ty Law. Our secondary is small and weak, another achilles heel.

  1. Miguel,

You need to add Andy Mouse-enmoyer to that list.
