Ugly special teams play

Posted by Mike Reiss, Globe Staff August 22, 2008 08:55 PM

The Patriots put forth a weak effort on special teams in the first half, allowing both a kickoff return for a touchdown, and a punt return for a touchdown.

Here was the personnel spotted on the field on both:

Kickoff
Gary Guyton, John Lynch, Kelley Washington, Heath Evans, Antwain Spann, Eric Alexander, Mark Dillard, Shawn Crable, Matthew Slater, Bo Ruud, Stephen Gostkowski

Punt
Jerod Mayo, Eric Alexander, David Thomas, Ray Ventrone, Kelley Washington, Heath Evans, James Sanders, Pierre Woods, Matthew Slater, Lonie Paxton, Chris Hanson

Bill Belichick was seen talking to punter Chris Hanson, as he seemed to be upset that Hanson kept the punt in the field of play.
