Wes Welker back at practice

Posted by Mike Reiss, Globe Staff August 31, 2008 03:37 PM

Wide receiver Wes Welker, who was knocked out of the Patriots' third preseason game with a rib injury, returned to practice today.

Welker was present for the media-access portion of the practice, which included stretching, agility drills and some light pass-catching.

The practice was held in shorts and shells (light shoulder pads).

Players not spotted at the media-access portion of practice included:

  • DB Brandon Meriweather
  • C/G Dan Connolly
  • C/G Russ Hochstein
  • TE Benjamin Watson
  • WR Sam Aiken
  • DE Le Kevin Smith

With only six offensive linemen present -- and with Connolly and Hochstein possibly not ready for the opener -- the Patriots might need to make a move for another offensive lineman.

    1. K, that's Willie Andrews. Willie Anderson was the former pro-bowl right tackle that was just released by the Bengals.
