Schadenfreude at its worst
FOXBOROUGH -- Some fans outside of New England are reveling in (and cashing in on) the Patriots' misfortune after quarterback Tom Brady was lost for the season with a left knee injury sustained in Sunday's season-opener against the Kansas City Chiefs at Gillette Stadium.
![]() |
One company is hawking T-shirts with the words "Bernard Pollard Fan Club, Established September 7, 2008" in honor of the Chiefs safety whose low (but legal) hit on Brady sidelined the Patriots' quarterback for the season.
From the company's web site:
Bernard Karmell Pollard (born December 23, 1984 in Fort Wayne, Indiana) is an American football safety for the Kansas City Chiefs in the National Football League. He was drafted in the second round of the 2006 NFL Draft. Pollard played college football at Purdue University. Pollard has been dubbed "The Bonecrusher" for his hard hits and tackles. On September 7, 2008, Pollard was involved in a play that ended with New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady being taken off the field with a knee injury and not returning for the rest of the game. It was later revealed that Pollard's hit on Brady most likely has ended the quarterback's season.
A few of Brady's teammates were asked today about the reports from around the country of fans cheering inside of sports bar as news of the injury was broadcast.
"That reaction is normal," said Patriots safety Rodney Harrison. "Anything that happens to us people, they get excited about. Obviously, they don't care for us much around the league. But I understand it's a competitive league. Teams, as well as fans, are looking for any edge they can possibly get and if that means us losing our star quarterback, guess what, they feel like that gives them an edge. At the same time, you still gotta get it done on the field.
Harrison later added: "People sometimes lose sight that we're brothers, we're fathers, sons. They look at us like machines. A lot of times, people really don't consider that we're human-beings, we have feelings, it hurts. We go through a bunch of different things, but they get so wrapped up in the game, that it's not real life... We're sacrificing, away from our families... as a football player, you understand it's a part of the deal. You're going to get hurt playing football. It's just how you respond."
Cornerback Ellis Hobbs said injuries are a part of the game and something football players sign up for, but it does surprise him how people could react in celebration to someone's injury.
"It amazes me, shocks me every time," said Hobbs. "It gets lower and lower. Where is it going to stop? But, it is what it is. We know what we do every day, we know how hard we work and at the end of the day, it doesn't matter what anyone else think."

This is despicable. You should remove this posted entry entirely.
Classless.
Although to be fair, I do consider myself a member of the Mo Lewis fan club
Just goes to show that when you are in a region with bad sports teams, you have nothing else better to do with your time!
How is a place able to profit like this without getting the permission of Bernard Pollard and/or the Kansas City Chiefs ?
If Bernard Pollard is truly sorry and it was truly an "accident" as he said it was, he should have the balls to put a stop to nonsense like this. It is HIS name being used.
Just goes to show that when you live in an area with terrible sports teams, you have nothing else better to do with your time!
Real classy, KC fans...then again, I guess you *do* need *something* to celebrate over there, given your team isn't doing it for ya.
This is totally ridiculous. Do we really deserve this? It wasn't too long ago when America loves this team to death back in 01. It's 1 thing to hate a team, it's another to cheer for this kind of stuff.
This is exactly why I am excited about all the eff-u TDs last year.
I have been an athlete and a die hard sports fan all my life. I understand competitivness, I understand supporting your hometown team through thick and thin and all the other emotions that surround players, fans, coaches, etc. The negative comments, doubts, dislike that is expressed toward teams only encourages the players and fans alike to step up and play hard, cheer hard and coach hard. What I don't understand and never will is how there could be people including sports writers, commentators, fans, other players, coaches etc. that would cheer for an injury. I don't care what team you root for, play for, coach for, write about or talk about cheering for an injury is beyond disheartening, it's sick and twisted. Shame on all of you people out there celebrating the pain and suffering of an incredible athlete. Injuries are unfortunately a part of the game but not one that should be exploited for the satisfaction, false hope or pat on the back that you are all looking for. Here's to the Patriots and beating the odds! I BELIEVE!

Sad. There is an epidemic of hate running rampant.
Sad. There is an epidemic of hate running rampant.
KC fans have nothing to do with this. If you look around the site, it's all Steelers crap. Shittsburg fans can go to hell.
Just goes to prove that you can't shine sh*t!
Sad. There is an epidemic of hate running rampant.
America got behind the Patriots in '01 because of two things:
1) A team called the 'Patriots' was playing in the Super Bowl months after 9/11.
2) They were a monster underdog against the Rams.
After they won, people had to deal with moronic Boston fans who only became more obnoxious once the Red Sox took the World Series.
Later, it was revealed the team was cheating. After a few more Super Bowls, many sports fans were sick of the Pats and Boston fans all together.
And don't dog these anti-Brady t-shirts. How many kids in Indonesia are wearing '19-0' shirts right now? Pats fans want all the glory the spotlight brings, then they complain when people get on them.
Boston fans were far more tolerable when they were losers. With Brady going down and the Rays handling business, hopefully that will be sooner than later.
This t-shirt was made in Pittsburgh....NOT in KC....so there!!
You Pats fans need to get out of your basement and get a life. The NFL beat goes on with Vick gone and now Brady. If the Pats keep winning, the injury won't matter.
One thing that the article doesn't say and people should be aware of is that this originated in Pittsburgh, not Kansas City. I have visited some of the blog pages for KC and they are for the most part being classy about this and not being idiots. There are exceptions of course.

Bulletin board material. Put it up to shut them up.
Stupid is as stupid does.
To rejoice in anyones misfortune-ANYONES shows such a lack of compassion and character in that company and for anyone who wears it.
Shameful.
This was website and t-shirt is hosted by a STEELERS (SQUEELERS) fan. If you go to the website you will see all the Steeler stuff, etc. Real classy!!!!
I don't think it's KC fans. I think it's fans in other cities *coughNYcough* who never heard of Pollard until Sunday. On the other hand, after KC plays the Jets, maybe sales in Boston will go up.
These shirts were probably created by NY fans.
Hey Davo, it's a Steelers website selling/making the t-shirts not Kansas City you moron. Don't insult our loyal Chiefs fans for something like this, you guys didn't even care about your team before 2001 anyway!
Folks, this was originated by a Pittsburgh fan, NOT a KC fan. Have been to KC sites and for the most part they are classy about this.
i cant even believe that we live in a world where people wish harm on others! this is disgusting! Jealousy is a very bad thing....
i cant even believe that we live in a world that people actually wish harm on other people! It is absolutely disgusting!

boo hoo hoo. :'(
TOM IS JUST FINE. MAKING A TON OF DOUGH. AND HITTIN A HOTTIE EVERY NIGHT. COME ON. RELAX FRANCIS.
Ha. This couldn't have happened to a nicer fan base. Nobody is happy that Tom Brady, the man, is hurt. But how could the rest of football not be possitively giddy that Tom Brady, NE QB, is done for the year? You fans deserver every bit of it. I can't believe any of you have the nerve to point fingers at other fans and call them classless. Your team is the classless bunch with the super-arrogant coach nobosy likes. You bring it on yourselves by walking around with a sense of entitlement and running the score up on the league while all the while telling everybody how great you are. If this shirt is classless, then I guess you'd have to agree that the pink hat Red Sux fans that wore blonde masks to the NYY series to taunt A-Rod were classless, too - right? The only way this could have been better is if Pollard hit Brady and stumbled into Belichick and took him down, too.
At least half of the people in this room complaining about this shirt., would be the first one in line buying them up if Payton Manning was injured in the same manner and some company made a shirt. Who cares it is a T Shirt they will sell a few thousand and never be scene again.
KC Matt, have you ever even lived around here? The Pats have been followed religiously by true area sports fans for over 40 years. We went (and lost of course) to the Super Bowl in 1986 and then in 1996. We made the playoffs a few other years also. Do you think people people didn't care then? Having lived here my whole life, I would say people have always cared greatly about the Patriots.
Who cares? The Pats will do their best this year and then get back to kicking everyone's butt next year when Tom returns. Enjoy the sabbatical NFL. Having said that I still think we win 11 games.
Hey KC Matt, that is funny that we didnt care about this team before 01, you dont knowjack about us so do some research before you speak. Sold out every game since 94.
Hey Matt in KC. Sorry to bust your bubble but some of us have been loyal fans here for many many years. Your statement is 100% incorrect.
I hope we get to cross paths with Pitt this year. Oh what a joy it will be to pound them as usual ha ha ha. Let me guess did PITT fans already book hotel rooms in Tampa like they did in 2001? LOL Talk about losers!
This from a group of fans who until 2004 would chant "Yankees suck" at Patriots games, I love seeing Patriots fans take the moral high road ... priceless!!
Did you even know you had a team in New England before 2001?
New England fans have been making NY shirts for YEARS! To the likes of Jeter s*$ks Arod and Yankees Suck.
I think you New Englanders have to lay off people making these shirts since you guys have been doing it for years....
what hypocrites....
those Tshirts about the yankees had nothing to do with an injured player so very different for what this t shirt means
Are you guys really comparing shirts and chants that say whoeevr Sucks to a Shirt that is thanking someone for INJURING a person! Wow that is a new low.
Honestly, does it really matter? A T-shirt was made. I'm as big a fan of the Pats as the next guy- but how does this really change anything?
We think things are funny when they happen to other teams (Arod's divorce, etc) We arent any better than all the other fans.
Deal with it, move on.
"I think you New Englanders have to lay off people making these shirts since you guys have been doing it for years...."
But I don't think we ever printed a shirt celebrating another players carreer-threatening injury.
Sure, folks liked us better when we lost - we weren't winning and beating their teams. duh.
The T-Shirts are in poor taste, but so the the Jeter Swallows, Arod does this and that. You can't have it both ways! I heard ALOT of cheering in Boston when Ben Rothlesburger was in his motorcycle accident. I heard ALOT of cheering when Vinny Testraverde was out for the season about 10 years ago when he started for the Jets. Don't go on and on and classless everyone else is, those people are in your back yard to.
BigBlue - There is a HUGE difference between people taunting A-Rod for being an embarassment to himself, his team, and his family by playing on an incident which was ENTIRELY of his own doing, and capitalizing on a player's injury. There is also a difference between the "Yankees Suck" shirts and this one for the same reason. I despise the Yanks, Jets, Colts, etc... but would never wish harm on Jeter, Favre, or Manning, because it's ridiculous. It's amazing how petty people have become.
Also, these men are professionals, they were supposed to be "running up the score", if you didn't know, that is the job of the offense.
I live in Manhattan now after growing up in the Boston area, and believe me, these people are definitely getting chippy about their awful sports teams. I absolutely love it. That is healthy schadenfreude, people.

Let's not bash an entire fan-base for one fan's website and a stupid t-shirt.
The site is not supported by the Steelers organization, but just some idiot looking to cash in on another's misfortune.
I have seen some of the most unclassy comments coming from Pats fans as well, but I wouldn't label the entire fan-base that way.

This shirt is no worse than the Manning, Jeter, and A-Rod shirts that you can buy for $15 outside of Fenway after games.
Get your head out of your butts, people. We do the same thing here.
This makes me sick to my stomach. JM posted that New Englanders have been making shirts for years regarding the suckiness of certain Yankees. HOWEVER, none of them were made after a season ending injury. Nor were any shirts made touting fan clubs of players causing the injury. That just goes too far. It's all in fun as long as no one gets hurt, and Brady was hurt. Those of you relishing this digusting and tasteless act, and enjoying the outrage of New England fans are seriously disturbed. I've never been moved to make comments on articles like this before, but reading what some of you classless people have said has forced me to defend myself and every other Patriots fan out there.

Lots of jealousy and bitterness out there. You can even see it in some of these comments. "You Pats fans" this and that. We do not behave any diferently from fans of any other dynasty, proud of our team. Here's an idea: get a life, get an identity of your own, and stop blaming New England for your inferiority.
Mojo Jojo "This from a group of fans who until 2004 would chant "Yankees suck" at Patriots games, I love seeing Patriots fans take the moral high road ... priceless!!"
There is a HUGE difference between yelling "yankees suck" or red soxs suck and being so happy in someone so influential in the NFL going down for the year. Making such a tshirt is very classless.

There is a HUGE difference in yelling "yankees suck" or redsoxs suck and celebrating in someone so influential in the NFL going down for the year. So your team MAY ( and I say may since the Patriots still have alot of weapons) now have a chance to beat the Patriots but it would just be a hollow victory. The person who made this tshirt is classless!!
Show me a stadium full of sports fans anywhere and I will show you a large number of idiots who like to make themselves feel better by putting down others, whether it is by cheering an injury, booing a player or chanting "Yankees Suck."
Unfortunately the rest of the fans who just want to enjoy a good game played on both sides (preferrably with their team winning, of course) end up lumped in with the rest of the jerks.
At the end of the day, there's really no need to be angry, so just relax, please, unless you're a relative of Brady's. We all have better things to do.
Pathetic. Nice society we've built for ourselves.
Does anyone know the website. I can have a friend hack in and crash it.
"We do the same thing here."
No, "we" do not. The only people who wear those shirts are the Bud Light swilling spoiled-brat college meat heads, many of whom are from places like Ohio and just got into the Sox because there isn't much else going on back in the cornfields. Not everyone wears the dumb shirts.
KC matt is right about people not caring about the Pats before 01. I live in Mass and no one here expected the Pats to win the Super Bowl in 01. And to MIke Smith about the Pats being sold out since 94. Why did they want to move to Memphis?? They changed the logo to look like Elvis. and to rrobb4 When I was a kid in the 70's the Pats never sold out and everyone would root for other teams. No one wanted to go see the Pats. They would have one good year and be bad the next 5 years. How long was there losing streak to Miami in the 70's and 80's. STOP CRYING PATS FANS. People get hurt in football.
Why does Boston.com give these morons a forum? If Post # 30 was made by anyone over the age of 12, then that individual has some serious issues. If that person is over 12, then please concider the many medication options available today to treat mental illness. Don't be afraid of the stigma... it's 2008 and it's ok to take anti-psychotic medication. You may even get better... but my bet is that Tom Brady's knee will heal a lot faster than your head. Your kind of illness may take years... but hang in there and don't give up :)
Pittsburgh is a huge toilet bowl of a city. I too, would be bitter and angry if lived there.
I love how all the haters come out. Somehow, a person who suffered a major injury is something to have money made on. I understand that there are those in cities that keep losing to New England that somehow must get in their revenge, but this is one of the most classless and pathetic things I have ever seen. While I still believe that New England is the class of the AFC, should we put "*" next to teams this year if they win? Remember this, NY fans? Since you can't win with him in, maybe the games that they may win should be marked accordingly. I know how much NY loves "*" next to things, right NY Post? Also, while I am at it, to the pathetic steeler fan that put this garbage out there, there wasn't anyone celebrating Rothlesburgers injury last year when he went riding without a helmet.
I can't say cheering for an injury is ever classy, but a hard slide put A-Fraud on the shelf for a year I wouldn't cry about it.
Brady is a big boy and he knows the chances. He got injured, you move on.
What "fans" of these teams forget is that injuries happen all the time. Merriman is out for the year. Young is out for 6-8 weeks. It is the NFL. People get injured. Grow a pair and move on.
Oh, and it is not just Pollard who hits hard, either. Rodney Harrison has been known to hit hard on occasion as well. I would hate to be a QB facing the Patriots this year....
Pats play Pittsburgh at the razor later in the season. We'll all see if the Pittsburgh fans are still relishing QB injuries after that game....
WHAT I SAY TO THE JETS AND THE REST OF THE OTHER TEAMS IS THAT HISTORY DOES REPEAT IT SELF AND BEWARE OF THE PATRIOTS. MATT CASSEL WILL BE JUST FINE ON SUNDAY AND THE REST OF THE TEAM WILL BE THERE AS WELL. NOT TO WORRY!! IF ANYONE SHOULD WORRY IT'S THE JET'S. WE ALL KNOW WHEN YOU COUNT US OUT THAT'S WHEN WE PLAY AND SURPRISE YOU THE BEST. I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THE LOOK ON FAVRE'S
FACE WHEN HE SAYS TO HIMSELF WHERE DID THIS CASSEL KID COME FROM.
ANYONE WHO BUYS ONE OF THESE SHIRTS SHOULD SAVE THEIR MONEY OR DONATE IT TO A WORTHY CHARITY. INSTEAD OF SPENDING IT ON SOMETHING SO LUDICROUS.
ALL THE WAY MATT AND THE TEAM!!
I'm in Kansas City, and i am a fan of both teams. I am disappointed in Pollard, but I am disgusted by people that would cheer for an injury to a player. That completely defeats the spirit of competition. It's just sick. Hopefully they can still have a good run.
There is not a person I know who would wish an athlete from another team any harm. When the other team misses a touchdown, I cheer. When another team misses a field goal, I cheer. When the other team has someone go down in pain I pray for them to get back up and get back in the game. It's a game. A sport for all to enjoy. The type of people that are happy about Brady are the type of people that love what Mike Vic did. To be happy at someone else's pain and be happy that they can't play in a game, I really can't find a word to accurately describe what that means. It's a sad and sorry state of our country that because you're a bad team and can't win, you would wish harm on someone else so you can finally win. But guess what you won't win anyway 'cause we're the Patriots!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i want mine!!!! Where can i get one?

What is ALOT?? Just wondering. As a "classless" Boston fan, I don't understand this word!?! ;)
Pats opponets are just happy they will lose by only 2 TD's instead of 5 this year.
Do you remember last year when LT couldn't answer the bell in the AFC Championship Game? Remember all those Patriots fans at Gilette stadium laughing and rejoicing over his injury? Remember those scenes of Patriots fans in Sports Bars all over the country high fiving like a bunch of drunken Borats? No?!? Oh, that's right it's because we're not a bunch of jealous bitter haters like so much of Sports Nation. The highlights of our season don't come from watching a human being suffering through a severe injury.
Yes, it's part of the game. But, when it becomes YOUR FAVORITE PART of the game, well, maybe you should stop watching the NFL and UPGRADE your Direct TV package To The 24 Hour BUM FIGHTING NETWORK (every Monday they show classic Bum Fights!) (Also for a limited time only, you can include in your Bum Fighting Package, the hot new channel: PEDESTRIAN MAULED IN CAR ACCIDENTS!! Street cameras reveal the best of Pedestrians hit by CARS!!!)
Anyway, just saying this, if another man getting injured was the HAPPIEST moment of this last week for you, be careful standing on that slippery slope. Also, enjoy NOT being superstitious about what this could do to your own team and definitely banking 100% on the idea that there is NO karma in this world.
So, keep letting your heart race and your palms sweat every time you see Brady get injured but also take a look at your own life if this is what most quickens your pulse.
As for me, what gets me most excited (in Sports) is knowing that even with this catastrophic injury, my DEFENDING World Series Champs Boston Red Sox are now 6.5 games up in the Wild Card with about 20 games to go.
But then after the baseball season ends, what am I going to do now that the Patriots' chance of winning the Super Bowl has been severely damaged this year. Bummer, I guess I'll just have to pass time watching the Celtics raise their 17th Banner and trying to defend THAT title, too.
GO PATRIOTS!!! GO RED SOX!!! GO CELTICS!!! (And, maybe, just maybe, we'll see Belichick pull off the Greatest single season coaching performance of all time. If any coach could salvage this season, well, In Bill We (still) Trust.) (Also, a lot of veterans wearing rings who have a LOT of well-earned pride. It'll be interesting to see how they respond...)
it's odd that the main quotes in the article come from Rodney Harrison, recently voted the most dirty player in the NFL...
The unfortunate thing is we don't know what the offended party feels about all this horse hockey. It really doesn't matter who said what or where it came from. We NE fans shouldn't encourage all the hicks, boobs and clods who sit on their computers waiting for us to react negatively to these comments. Sometimes when bad little children have tantrums and misbehave it's best to not acknowledge the bad and ignorant behavior. It's much better to be adult about this.
I personally feel that Tom should have his attorney look into this for some type of defamation lawsuit and seek to have any proceeds go to charities for disabled individuals or battered women.
This stuff just has to end; I'm really tired of all the hatred/jealousy vented at our NE teams. I choose not to accept the gift of their abuse. They can keep all their vitriol.
Too bad that's the only way some teams think they can get past the Patriots or just win a game against us for that matter.
LONG LIVE TOM BRADY!
Classless fans are all over the place, you can't deny that. I love Boston, but I have to say that as an out-of-stater living in Boston, I have seen the classlessness of the Boston fans up close for a few years now. As a NYer and a lifelong hockey fan--but not a baseball fan in the least, not at all--I wear my Islanders hat around for my measly pride in the only pro sports team I really follow. I get crap all the time for wearing it--an Islanders hat! And not because they have legitimately sucked...no, because it was NY related. "Damn New Yorker!" "Yankees s*ck!" "I bet you like the Yankees, huh--you suck!" One time a street food vendor refused to serve me at the St. Anthony's feast and one time I got spit on! It's irrational, happened on the streets of Boston, Cambridge, Medford....I'm not an antagonizing guy, and I just don't get it. It actually got worse after '04 when the Sox won the series. NY fans do suck, but at least my Isles hat gets heckled for the right reasons--namely b/c they have not played well.
Boston fans are passionate, but they have to see how they come across to folks!
I think that Reiss severely errs in labeling the elation emanating out of Pittsburgh as “schadenfreude” which is loosely definied as “taking joy in the misfortune of others.”
The application of this principle (per latter 20th century Swissvalian thought) is motivated simply by jealousy, or envy. Reiss fails to comment on our glee being driven by the obvious competitive advantage that has accrued to us as Steeler fans.
Just had this convo, minutes ago, with one of the Patriot nitwits whom I employ,
who “had a problem” with my bieng “so damn happy” about the injury. I broke it down for him. Pre-injury, both Pats & Steelers were favored to win their respective divisions, and should the Steelers win a playoff game, or two, the smart money would have had them needing to go to Foxboro, and beat a Brady-led Pats team in order to advance to the Super Bowl.
Now….smart money would suggest that a Pats-Steelers post-season matchup will take place in Pittsburgh. And…..there will be no Brady. Our chances of bringing home our Sixth Lombardi just got a whole lot better.
Take another looks at Schadenfreudian thought, Florio."
Hey, look on the bright side here... This guy's business probably just took off. The shirt is a great idea on his part, even if he thinks the shirt is tasteless himself. Its business. The only thing this is gonna do is empty the pockets of sadistic people, sending a third of it to taxes and boosting our economy, and then afterward, everyone will know which Jets/Steelers fans are truly despicable. Perfect!
It's a game. People, whoever they are, jus tahve to realize that injuries happen, players go down, and we move on. The beauty here in Boston, unlike other cities, is that we have the Sox season finale to look forward to; the Bruins are on the upswing; and the Celtics--well, they are doing OK as well. So, while one team may be down for the count the real question must be this: when is tip-off for the NBA?
Yeah, because we all know that when Roethlisberger had his motorcycle accident you were all so worried about him, and examples of class. Please! Give it a rest. The league hates the Pats. Fans of the league hate the Pats. Whether it be due to cheating(Spygate), arrogance(We're only scoring 17 points? Yeah, Ok...), or bad behavior(Wilfork elbowing Losman. Vrabel leg whipping Rivers. Belichek walking off the field before the end of the game, or acting like a tool to Mangini) the league hates the Pats. They're earned the level of disdain they get. The way we see it, "Revenge is a dish best served cold"!!! Enjoy the season....
i support entry # 14
anything that comes from mass...SUX
the pats are cheats, 3 pass plays from the 5yrd no flags....
i ll take a 1 week loss for a year of not hearin about the cheatin pats goin to the dance....lol
The short of it is.....Tom Brady never did anything in his professional or amateur career to deserve this kind of coverage.......all the people who hate NE sports fans, I do understand and I am one. This guy, the face of the NFL, does not deserve treatment such as this ......if you don't agree.....probably form NY or PIT.
Just curious, was this injury an accident or was Pollad's hit intended to cause it? Seriously, I don't know.
Thanks # 62 for getting it straight. New Englanders like winning, but we are not a pit bull bunch of 'tards. Well, most of us.
Seriously....Pittsburgh doesn't stand a chance even with Brady out for the year now, so who cares what they think. It is COMPLETELY classless but let that be them...and let Pats fans just support their team just as hard as ever...if the Pats pull a 2001, then we'll have PLENTY to talk about then.
GO PATS!!!
i am a steelers fan and i have been one since the 70's...we have the most classless fans in the nfl and i am sad to be a part of it...these people are not steelers fans or even nfl fans...they are just typical patriot haters because they have been kicking the snot out of us for the past six years..good luck to the patriots and the nfl will never be the same this season without tom brady..he is one of the most exciting people to watch in the nfl
Honestly I don't think Pollard meant to do it - but if he wants to do penance then let him take out Sarah Palin's ACL and we'll call it even for the year.
Give Tom a year to be with his kid and supermodel girlfriend and come back on fire after sitting around watching his team for a season.
Brady's misfortune is little more than Karma catching up to his over inflated ego. I have read a few comments on here where some of these people seem to think that running up the score is the point of the game. It is not. Not even close. Any other reasonable team in the NFL, when stopped inside the 5 yard line on third down does not go for another TD when leading significantly. They kick the field goal, take their 3 points and end the drive.
Not the Patriots.
They go for it just to try and embarass their opponents and stimulate their own ego. They're pathetic and are the worst sportsmen ever to step on to the field. I have never had a team that filled me with such disgust.
Add to that Brady's cocky attitude prior to the last Superbowl when Plaxico Buress was asked to make a prediction so on the spot he said "24-17" and Brady later commented on that and publicly said, "Yeah right, like we're only going to score 17 points." He deserved it. It's Karma.
For all the misery that team and that individual has spread amongst players and fans alike, I personally feel that an antagnositic T-Shirt is letting them off pretty easily. Frankly, I have been looking to buy a Bernard Pollard Jersey all week, this shirt just might have to do.
Um - idiots. It's highly unlikely this comes from Chiefs fans/ Try looking around your own division. What a dumba$$ thing to suggest. We saw Trent Green go down several years ago and know exactly how this feels - we're not celebrating you losing your QB. That's ridiculous.
You guys are funny. For one the people that made this shirt are not representing pittsburgh or the steelers they are not linked at all. they are printing the shirt to make money. Its like companies that make cigerettes they know its bad for you and you know its bad for you but you just keep on puffing. We live in a world where money is EVERYTHING and you need it to get by. So while you are complaining about woe is me over this simple t-shirt Mr. Brady is at home with his beautiful girl and baby, where he should be. If it wasnt a pittsbugh fan doing it, it may be another cities fan doing it and you would throw your hate towards them regaurdless of who did it. but at the end of the day it dosent really mater. Its only a t-shirt. The people on here calling them classless are just as classless for talking smack. Your no better then the next person you just like to pretend you are.

You can't believe that we live in a world where people wish harm on other people? Are you serious? The world is a very violent place and people have been wishing harm on others since the dawn of time. What do you think armies are for?
The story quoted Rodney Harrison, one of the league's dirtiest players. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black...
Hey Stinky - The least you could do, if you are going to post, is have your act together. Here are a few tidbits of information
1) What the Patriots did was NOT cheating. It was a rules violation. Just like wearing the wrong color socks or sneaker. Just like Speeding. This isn't NASCAR where, if you put a couple of magnets on the back of your gas pedal, you mess up the dynometer reading.
2) Most people in the Boston area aren't obnoxious. Certain not nearly as obnoxious as Raider Fans or Yankee fans. Some are. But for you to be stupid and ignorant about the Bernard Pollard T-Shirts and attempt to compare it to the 19-0 T-shirts is just STUPID. Patriot Fans had NOTHING to do with the T-shirts for the perfect season being printed. That was the NFL.
Now, for the idiot who tried to compare Michael Vick to Tom Brady, you seriously need to get out and get an education. To compare the two shows how ignorant you are. They have nothing in common other than not being able to play currently. Vick, though, will never set foot on a football field again.
Now, to the idiot Steeler fans who seem to be PROUD of the fact that Bernard Pollard accomplished what your pathetic team couldn't. That just goes to show that you idiots don't deserve anything and everyone KNOWS that your team didn't earn that last SB. Everyone KNOWS it was handed to them by the pathetic calls by the referees.
So, please, rtun along haters. You are the scum of the earth and really don't deserve to be breathing oxygen.
People are shocked at news like this, that indicates that NFL fans may not be a "classy" demographic? Video footage of extreme hits/tackles are used in merchandising and advertising! If you want a prime example of the lack of "class" of NFL fans, you don't have to look any further than the Brady fans. The guy got his most lucrative endorsement (stetson) in the middle of rumors that he had both a lingerie model and an actress pregnant, not following a SB win. The guy is more popular and has made more endorsement money with the womanizing, baby-daddy image than he did with following the pope visit, with the choir boy image. The patriots organization for years touted their classiness, preaching the moral highground with the "patriots way." The rest of the NFL fans put up with it, only to end it with cheating allegations. Please. The fact that the patriots fans who made Brady a more popular figure when his womanizing was in the media are trying to accuse others of being "classless" would be funny...if it weren't so typical.
OK, all you Tanya Hardings, would you not feel better if your team had a great day and beat the Patriots with Brady in there?
Shytsburg is coming to Foxborough on Nov. 30, 2008 - wonder how many of these shirts will be worn in the stands?
I predict ZERO - FUG the Squeelers

Injuries aren't my favorite part of the game. But when Brady's cocky ass goes down in the first and is done for the season? That makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.
im a huge chiefs fan i admit when brady got hurt i cheered only because i thought it would help my chiefs have a better chance at winning and beliveve me the chiefs need all the help they can get , at the rate they,re playing it will be the year 3000 before they ever make the super bowl. any ways as a chiefs fan i want to apoligize to the patriots fans and players for cheering and this stupid shirt made by a angry person ,and i feel bad for cheering because i think brady is a great quarterback .
Classless...I would say more like ridiculously funny!!
Classless? If you look up the word classless in the dictionary you will find the team photo of the Patriots?
Your head coach is a cheater, and lets not talk about how he dresses in that ripped sweatshirt on the sidelines...Pretty Classy!!
Belicheat can't even shake the winning coaches hand in the Super Bowl...
Your hero #12, leaves a woman when she is pregnant with his child...
Randy Moss, do I have to say anything? Just Randy Moss is explanation enough!!
Rodney Harrison-dirtiest cheap shot artist in the league...
Boy I could just go on and on...
Good luck with the Jets!! You are going to need it!!
We will see you on November 30 at Foxborough!! I'll be the guy selling Bernard Pollard Fan Club T-Shirts!! Half Price for all New England Patriot Fans.
The shirt is, of course, classless. But then again, what's a Steelers fan to do? In almost every game between the Patriots and Steelers that's mattered this decade, the Pats have won. Ahh . . . Heinz Field -- New England's home away from home.
I don't remember any "funny" t-shirts when Roethlisberger's head went through a windshield a couple years ago. And I won't sink to that level to say it's funny now. What is funny, however, is New England's complete dominance over Pittsburgh. By the way, how are the Pirates doing? How about the Sixers?
Sincerely,
The World Champion Boston Red Sox, the World Champion Boston Celtics and Brady's three Super Bowl rings
Who cares??? It's a funny shirt in response to something that happenened to a player who led an offense that showed no sportsmanship for an entire season. You keep throwin for the end zone in a 40-3 game, don't be surprised if people are happy when something bad happens to you. Plus he's not dead folks, its an injury, we "normal" people get them to and shouldn't expect special treatment from everyone.
Wow... talk about classless...
And I mean all you Patriots fans, not the people who made the T-shirts.
Classless was your team running up the score and embarassing teams, AT HOME, like the Buffalo Bills, last year when you had the game locked down.
Classless is putting in you backup QB in the first half after destroying a team that would only go onto win only one game, ONE GAME, and put your starting QB back in after the opposing team scored one touchdown (even though they didn't have a snowballs chance in H*ll of coming back).
Classless is Boston/New England fans.
You complain like babies everytime you face a sitation like this, then you brag and act high-and-mighty when you win. Honestly, there is a reason no one likes the Patriots (or Boston fans for that matter) and it is because YOU, my friends, are classless.
Yes, I am a die-hard Chiefs fan. And NO, the hit was not dirty (stop crying and complaining - Morris, who plays for YOUR team, pushed Pollard down, forcing him to hit Brady's knee). And no, no fans around the league care that you are without your QB.
You reap what you sow, boys and girls. I feel horrible Brady got hurt (hey, for that matter, I feel bad when anyone gets hurt), but maybe next time you should think about your karma when you're embarssing teams and people. The football Gods are finiky.
Even Bill Simmons knew your karma was going to be bad... and after the biggest let down in sports history during last year's Super Bowl and now losing Brady, he's right.
So grow up, Patriot fans. Yes, the shirts are tasteless. But so is the way you conduct yourselves as fans.
There is a reason we (other teams' fans) don't like you. And it's not because you win all the time...
It's because win or lose, you are simply classless.
Give me a break, all the outrage from the Pats fans - the same people who where the negative Yankee bashing shirts all the time. Its all in good fun and Karma comes back to get you. Go Steelers!!!
Yeah baby imma make myself a member. anyone got the link to where i can buy these awesome t-shirts. even though it is wrong for someone to celebrate anothers misfortune, brady and the pats had it comin. the post by Mattie Robs hit it right on the head. everyone hates u b/c u ran up the score. brady only got the single season td record b/c he was throwing to moss at the goalline in the 4th quarter of 35-3 games. peytons '04 season is still the best single season by a qb considering he threw 49tds by sitting out the second half of most games. in week 15 against the ravens he had 47tds so far and was inside the red zone but took a knee cuz the game was wraped up. heck he didn't even play in week 17. spygate is just icing on the cake. no one likes u b/c u think ur better than everyone else and show no respect to anyone else. u have no class. and the response to brady's injury jus proves that everyone outside of boston hates the pats. go back to playin like u did in '01 when u were a classy team. that's why everyone supported u back then, know u just make everyone who loves the sport of football sick. show some humility and people might start to like u again. the pats got wat was comin to them. no disrespect to brady, and i wish him a successful recovery, but it's belichik, or however u spell it, that everyone hates. it jus doesn't matter if he gets injured, so the hate is shifted to brady. i feel sorry for him b/c he jus follows coaches orders. and i'm so happy the pats lost the super bowl or u guys would have taken classless and cocky to a whole new level. now after everything i jus said, i really hope peyton stays healthy. i'm sure the fan response wouldn't be nearly as negetive if he got hurt. i'd jus hate for the colts to have to go through wat the pats are goin through right now. even though imma 'bout to make myself a member of the bernard pollard fan club.
Walter-Steeler fan since the 70s---move to New England and do us all a favor!!
Jonesy--You are an idiot...The Sixers are the Philadelphia Sixers not the Pittsburgh Sixers...soooo...The are in Philadelphia...weird how that works...
Although I can see how you would be confused since your football team represents an area and not one city...
LOL....WAAAAAAAAAAAAH, BRADY, WAAAAAAAAAAAH!
Steeler fan -- the Sixers are in Philly? Really? Wow, you just enlightened everyone with that knowledge. Tell me then, what NBA team do the people of Toiletville, I mean Pittsburgh, root for? The Nets? The Wizards? Doesn't matter, they all suck.
But back to the team at hand, the mighty Pittsburgh Steelers. Reactions by your fans to Brady's injury are predictable. You're overjoyed because you can't beat the guy -- particularly when it counts. The Patriots have done more celebrating on Heinz Field recently than the Steelers. Beat the Pats in a meaningful game, then talk. Until then, slink back into your slimy city (I've been there -- just awful) and grasp onto the only thing you have when it comes to Steelers football -- history.
You Chowdaheads are a bunch of front-runners. You only care about and rally behind your teams when they are winning. You only care about your teams if they are winning. Sox, Bruins, Patties and Celtics, if they are not winning, you don't care.
Not sure you I hate more front-runners or cheating teams.
Go Pollard!
Hey Stevieoo,
Nice try, but you couldn't be more wrong. And you might want to work on your grammar there a little, pal.
Go literacy!
--Sincerely,
The Steelers' "impressive" 10-6 win against the Browns. Can't wait 'till you come to Gillette Stadium and lose -- again -- even with a backup quarterback.
wow you all are a bunch of whiny babies stfu about this shit and bitchin about the chiefs and talkin trash on them were fucking going through a re building stage
oh and by the way, it isnt a chiefs fan who is making the t-shirts. its a steelers fan you bitchy assholes get over your damn qb it fucking happens all of you know it wasnt on purpose and randy moss knows it too he just bitches and whines about everything
