Brady to NBCSports.com: 'I still like our chances'
Patriots quarterback Tom Brady shared some quick thoughts with Tom E. Curran of NBCSports.com today.
In an email, Brady told Curran: "It will all be OK. I’m excited to see what our team is made of … I still like our chances."

Would you expect anything else but class from Tom. This is a great football team. Something like this can pull a team closer together. When I look at their roster, I could never count this team out.
I think the media wants to portray Patriot's Nation as hopeless and counting the season as over. It's true that our worst fear has come true but we remain hopeful. Sure, Brady is the leader and will be missed by his team but we know he'll be right there on the sidelines mentoring Matt and as Brady said "It'll all be okay". I believe the Patriots will survive.
Brady and "class" don't even belong in the same sentence. This is the same guy who took great pleasure in running up the score on teams last year. And, not to mention, I've never seen him congratulate an opposing QB after losing a meaningful game. It couldn't have happened to a better guy, coach, franchise, or fan base.
We are the Patriots Nation--hear us roar, "GO PATS!"

Wah, wah, wah, Paul. This is the NFL, not Pop Warner. Just as hard, season-ending hits are part of the game (as I am sure you would hasten to argue), so is supremacy/inferiority. And if anyone ran up the score, it's the coach, not the players (are they supposed to refrain from executing?). Another Mensa-caliber contribution from a bitter opposing fan.
Obviously, it's what you'd expect Brady to say. The same for Warren and Vrabel who are also quoted in TC's article.
It will be interesting to see how the offense does under Cassel. I'm one of those guys who didn't like any of what I saw in pre-season, and was surprised that Cassel didn't get cut. But one of the main reasons why the Pats have been so successful is that BB & Pioli are some of the best in the business at what they do, and they think that Cassel is the guy. That and the support of his team mates are the only things that matter.
It's pretty simple: If the Pats make the playoffs, Cassel is a hero.
Paul,
Go troll somewhere else because we have neither the time nor the appetite for the likes of people like you. Stop putting misinformation out there simply because your team and probably your life is a disaster and you take great pleasure in people feeling as crappy about things and life in general as you do. We are winners here in Mass. and so is our team and our QB no matter what the situation.
Sincerely,
Demetrios
Hey Paul-
I wonder which classy organization you cheer for. Must be pretty up there in the realm of classiness with an idiot comment like that. I bet you're a fat guy who's never competed in his life. Would make sense.
I believe that the Patriots can still have a successful season, but they must go about it a different way. If you watched the Chicago Bears beat the Colts last night, you now have an idea of what brand of football the Patriots must play to be competitive against the NFL's elite. Even with Orton at quarterback, the Bears where able to move the chains with combination of high percentage short passes and an effective power running game. Add that to the fact that the Bears D was able to forces a couple of turnovers and you get a 29-13 Bears win.
PATRIOTS NATION UNITE AROUND SAMMY MORRIS! HE IS OUR NEW LEADER AND WILL RUSH US TO VICTORY EVERY SUNDAY! 16-0 IS ALL OURS!
I am not counting Brady out returning for the year until he is put on IR...
I can't help but be tempted by a vision of Brady coming out of the tunnel at Giant Stadium this weekend.. Can you imagine a bigger FU to mangini? right up BB's alley....
The pats love mind games....
I know the second stage of the greiveing process in denial.. maybe.... but this would be the ultimate payback for Spygate.. and the jets opening their mouths after the game to speculate on the injury...
Let's hope the Pats fans jack up the intensity. The team needs to be picked up. It doesn't get any better than Brady, as an athlete or face of a franchise, it makes me puke he's out for the year, but, corny as it is, I'm glad he wrote that email.
Here we go Pats, I still believe! This is a good team, and we still have MOSS!!!

bola de cabrones que todabia no se han dado cuenta que los patriotas de nueva inglaterra son los mejores "GO PATS".
Paul = Bitter, Jests fan
Brady has always tipped his cap to opposing players, especially QB's. Remember Chad Pennington? Yeah, the guy that the Jets own fans were Mock Cheering last year when he got hurt in a home game? That guy.
Brady has always had good things to say about him. Pennington finally went to an organization with some class. He deserved better.
Mike, what's the deal with Simms and Rattay being sent home, and they were told "The situation has changed."
Why are we getting the latest info from other places, first?
Paul Paul Paul...let me guess...Redskins fan? Eagles? Nah, I'm betting you smell like a New Jersey garbage barge, so it must be the Jets. Well, here's the thing, stinky: you haven't seen Brady congratulate an opposing QB (like, say, Manning...or Manning) because you haven't been watching, because you're only half a fan, and I know this because you're only half a man. See, only a small fraction of a man would celebrate an injury like this, to any player, on any team. That would be you, ergo, you are a small fraction of a football fan. Your flaccid understanding of the game is further exposed by puling about "running up the score." Not even gonna bother to explain. As for the Pats, well, we may go 8-8 or worse...hell, we could become this year's version of Miami...but they won't quit, won't blink, won't do anything but what they do best, as best they can. I think all Pats fans will find themselves proud of this team when the season ends. To quote Churchill: "This shall be our finest hour."
See...*that's* what being a fan is about, stumpy. There are books you can read if you want to learn more. Now run along back to your Madden game, but be sure you get your homework done first.
if there is 1 team on this planet in the history of sports who could pull this off, it's us. us against them. we need to tighten up and start playing smashmouth all out take no prisoners football. we get into the playoffs and it's anyones SB
Frustrated,
Mike tends to report on facts while other make up stories to cover their behinds. Seems to me that neither Simms nor Rattay were ever on their way here and some reporters from other news organizations where you get your info simply said they were sent home so they won't have egg on their face. I am guessing the players agents gave that info to those reporters hoping to drum up some interest in their clients, it has also been reported that Simms and Rattay will also visit two other teams. The best plan going forward for the Pats is to get Cassel ready to go so the team has the best chance to win. No other QB can walk in here off the street and learn the offense quickly enough to start, it would be a down the road in a few weeks type of thing anyway so there is no reason to get excited at this point. In my opinion Cassel will be fine.
Sammie Morris better pay more attention how to block.
Brady is okay, big fat check while he rests and rehabs.
Patriots coaching at fault for keeping Brady planted in the pocket for deep throws, all kind of bodies a threat crashing into his legs before.
Brady will be rolling out more or in the pocket. The flat footed heaves with legs rooted into the ground risk injury.
To those of you who have nothing but disparaging comments, please keep in mind that negativism accomplishes nothing. Anyone who suffers an injury is entitled to wishes for a successful surgery and a speedy recovery. Tom, I wish you well! You bring class to the sport of football!
hey paul...where are you loser??? drop that bombshell on this website and then scurry back into your hole in mom's basement.
let me guess...you're the chairman of the mike vick fan club. seems right up your alley you tool.
Yeah, the Patriots should be okay as long as they still have the other teams playbook.
Paul, first of all you're wrong about Brady not congratulating opposing QB's you obviously have never watch a Patriots game and therefore your accusation is as foolish as you appear to be. Second, you are obviously taking pleasure in the fact that another human being has been injured, that's pretty sick man. I remind you that this is a game and it can happen to anyone. So just remember that troll.
As a patriots number 1 fan. I will support them no matter what. Like brady said he like's the chances for patriots. Matt Cassel might not shine like brady but everyone around him will help him. From offense, defense to special teams. It's hard to see brady went down. But its the part of the game everyone goes down. You cannot always be injured-free. It can happen to everyone even kickers get knee injured just for kicking. But like I said its hard to see him go down for 21 minutes of the game. We all know how much he enjoyed to play every season. I hope he comes back soon. Even though the patriots or brady can't see this message im writing all I can say is. You guys can do it, Just believe in yourself and help each other. To brady, I wish you healed up quick and stronger for next year. GO PATS!!!
The entire idea of "running up the score" is senseless when applied to football. Do teams go out every week with the intention of preserving each other's feelings? No. It is a leave nothing behind sport where to goal is to do everything possible to ensure your team's victory. Stranger things have happened than large comebacks. The point I made all last season rings truer now - do accusations of running up the score incorporate the calculated risk our coach took to get those points? As you can see, every minute our franchise QB is out there is a risk. Whether it was for practice or to cement victory, those points were scored by choice by the smartest coach the league has seen in recent years, based on cold statistics and cost/benefit analysis. The Pats are run like a smart business, and not the business of revenge. The questions of "classlessness" are the accusations of a jealous, ignorant fan who has not considered the facts and was spoonfed the popular media opinion of the big, bad, "cheating" Patriots.
Somebody put a fork in them. They are done.
Everything is not lost... there are 22 quality starters on this team who will give heart & soul every play... as long as we have Bruschi, Vrabel, Harrison, Moss, Welker, etc, the Patriots can win tough. The O-line will have to play lights out most of the time and be the moat for Cassel.
It's the New England Patriots not the New England Brady's. The team will do just fine.
Yes we lost the leagues MVP from last year in less then a quarter into the seasons first game but there are many other quality players on the Pats. If the defense can play as they have in the past and Cassel can lead the offense without making a ton of mistakes I think the playoffs are achievable.
In Bill B we trust.
Lets Go PATS
Hi Tom,
I'm True Love You My Fan Football, All The Time. I Just Saw You Last Night. I Was So Big Freaking It Out. Becuz I Never Saw You HIT Injured The First Time And Front Of Everyone "SHOCKING" Becuz We Are Deeply Love You Very Much. I Do, But, I Thought You Come Back Next Wks Or 2 Wks. I Was Okay But, Something Wrong With It. I Mean My Mind / My Feel Told Me "Tom Brady Will Be Out Of This Season" I Said "Can't Be" Later Until Breaking News Told Us. I Said "Damn It I Knew It." My Feel Was Right To Telling Me. So I Preper You Should Surgery. Becuz It Will Help You A Lot Strong Health More Than Medicine No Work. Tom Brady Email Tom Curran: "It will all be OK. I’m excited to see what our team is made of … I still like our chances."
Ok, My Feel/My Mind Told Me. "Possible Tom Brady Will Be Miracle Win Next Year"
I Said "It Could Be" I Was No Joke Becuz I Can Feel Tom Brady's Mind "Faith For Teams"
God Bless You. We Will Miss You So Deeply With My Heart. Love You.

Paul,
When was the last time you felt the soft touch of a woman?
That it Patsie fans its over!
No perfect season, no Super Bowl win and now, no Tom Brady. I love it! Better luck next season!
Ok, im sick of hearing that new england is not a contender for the afc, if anyone remembers the same thing happen to drew bledsoe, he went down and brady step knowing as much as cassell knows. so for all who have any doubts about the pats this yr then dont consider yourself a fan or any understanding to football, i myself have very high hopes to see cassell pull it together and if he cant im sure we will make the right moves to do what we need to do, remember one guys doesnt change a win but one team changes a ring. any questions or want to maybe talk about the pats please email me : kevski79@yahoo.com
I dont understand the running up score comments. Did someone lookup the scores this week.
Phi 38 STL 3
PIT 38 HOU 17
Isnt this running up the score. Remember 2005 game when SD came to NE. They scored 45 points. No one complained running up the score. They why, when patriots score similar everyone cry.
I am not really a patriots fan but more or less NFL fan and you can take this for what is worth. I think BB should bring another vetern QB in. Just for insurance. Continue play Cassle because he knows the offense but he may not be able to get the job done. You guys have to remember Brady is one of the smartest and accurate QB's in the league. The QB that comes in has big shoes to fill and I know the Patriot nation will not settle for less. There are some great QBs out there ie: Culpepper, Leinart, that are not starting. So the bottom line is this, bring in vetern QB give him time to learn the system; meanwhile check out Cassle and then play the best man at QB. The only down fall of this could be Cassles's perception of team devotion but its the NFL the best player at that position starts.
I think that all the loosers that post negative commets about the PATS, BB & the great Tom Brady should feel that this is the end. But you will see what type of team we are. Does Tom Brady injury make you feel great or maybe is the only chance you have to win something.
We are not just the best team in the world but also the best fans and we will see our team to reach another super bowl. Tom Brady is the greatest ever and he and BB will find the motivation to win and to shout down those New Yorkers and other pretenders that can stand a winning organization. They blame the PATS for running the score. You should have some defense that why they are profesionals.
GO PATS & Tom Brady forever the best
PAUL posts here on the site quite a bit and he has a tendency to repeat a lot of his feeble meaningless thoughts. His posts obviously have no purpose on the other sites he happens to frequent.
He's just a bitter man who follows some one of the other Pop Warner NFL teams that requires that our QB has to be out of the season JUST to give HIS team a remote chance to possibly have a winning record.
Paul, you big Bozo. Tell us about yourself and the team you pretend to follow. Let's see how they do with Brady out.
Go Patriots and Patriot Nation. We will endure.
hey all PATS fans; I saw, or I thought I saw Cassel throw the football Sunday! I think he threw one or two to Randy, maybe not; I was disheartened when Tom went down, but I think with BB and TB, after surgery, on the sidelines and during practices, Cassel will impress with his arm. Watch out, in the East, 10 -6 will make playoffs, maybe even 9-7. The Jets might be better with Brett, but the Bills and Miami, not so; Pats win Division, and then, watch out. Simms, only for distraction and coaching, if anything;
Its over...its over....say good bye.....its over......Even some of the Pats owns scouting department thing Cassel is trash..........Its over....its over......GOOD BYE
AFC East is wide open again! I guess the injury report for you guys won't be a bunch of smoke and mirrors this week, will it? Karma has finally called your name and it's time to pay the piper!!
Done. I don't think so. Matt Cassel has been around for a while. He knows the playbook he knows the players he is playing with. He's put in the time and Bill thinks he's the man for the job and I'm with whatever Bill says..The team will rally together and play tough football.
The AFC East is wide open! The bad karma has finally caught up with the CHEATriots!! The football gods have spoken! Glory glory halleluja! Welcome to the dismal world of mediocrity, Patriots! Ha ha ha ha!!
I CANNOT WAIT to see tom brady with the headphones on this weekend mentoring a Matt Cassel that needs so much help running the complicated NE offense. WHO else would you rather have talking into your unproven backup QB's ear? God this could be so fun...and interesting. I like our chances too. It's not just hype, he's serious, this team is good, even without the MVP.
CONGRATS TO TB...THE GREATEST QB TO LOSE A SB!!!!! GO GIANTS!!!!!
PERFECTUS DENIEDUS!!!!!!!!
Patriots will be much motivated to go to the playoffs.. And remember the jinx that after a superbowl stint the teams in the game most likely would not get to the playoffs..i believe back then with Brady it would not happen, then again even without him i believe in Randy, Josh McDaniels, and the offense to full this off..The defense will be stout as ever and the SUPERBOWL is a few weeks away from today..GO PATS...The Patriot Nation in the Philippines Support you all the way...!!!
This is why the Patriots WILL rebound from this. First off they still have the easiest schedule in the entire NFL. That is going to help a lot, but I'll be honest and admit that their schedule was deemed easy because we all assumed Brady would be playing this year, but even in his abscence, the Pats should still be able to manage double-digit victories this year.
Don't any of you remember Ben Roethlisberger guiding the Steelers to a 15-1 record in his rookie campaign? At least Matt Cassel is familiar with these players and personnel. He's got the keys to arguable the greatest offense EVER assembled. Laurence Maroney WILL become a breakout star in this league, as the Pats will have to rely heavily on the run game, but with the depth at the position, relying on the run game should not scare any of us fans that haven't jumped ship.
I feel sorry for teams who under estimate the healthy talent left on the Patriots. Teams like the Bears and Ravens have made it to the Superbowl without all-star QB's. Teams like the Patriots just don't roll over.
Wide receivers, running backs, defense, specials teams... All still very good. BB will have a new game plan that will play to the team strenghts. I still fear the Patriots... And, I'm a Colts fan (troll)
No- the schmuck Paul sounds very much like one of the new, lamest group of fans out there- San Diego. I live in Hawaii and am accosted by these classless fair-weather losers on a daily basis, who can manage only grunts of "cheaters" between their cocaine and cheap swill spittle, watching a team in a town that has never won anything in any sport, with a steroid bloated defensive star, weeping running back, and a crowd-heckling Q.B. Then again, the probability of Jersey is huge, with the added humiliation of being a Yankees fan adding to his vitriol and unsportsmanlike joy at a player's injury. Same goes for Mr. LAgoda.
Marc, you have more class in your pinky toe than every other troll who has visited these blogs over the last few days combined. Thanks for restoring some of my faith in humanity....come and visit anytime.
By the way, anyone who counts out the Colts after their loss to da Bears needs to take their seat next to "The Pats are done without Brady" people on the special bus!
The Matt Cassel Revolution is here!
Paul - maybe you can spout off some stuff on Rodney Harrison so he can welcome Favre to the AFC East.
The Pats are not just about Brady. Sure , he is fabulous and a great leader of the team but he's not gone. He'll be there on the sidelines mentoring Matt. We need to rally 'round Matt and give him our support . And what about the rest of the team? I can't list all of them here but what about Wes Welker, Bruschi , Vrabel and Seymour. And Gostkowski? He's been rock solid for us!!
Thanks to all of you with the positive thoughts...TBrockton,Rob, Martin G, Trent Demetios & RJ. Yeah, Yeah Yeah Will!!!
And I agree with John, thanks Marc.
Paul you should REMAIN silent! Clearly you have nothing to say. Wishing injury on any player is so low. Clearly you don't think much of yourself. Oh and Marks, you too should remain silent.
I too wish you well Tom and good luck with your surgery and recovery.
I hate to see guys get hurt. I am not a Pats fan, but Brady and the Pats are all part of the drama that makes the NFL so great. The league as a whole is not better off with him being out.
Some of you guys, however, are not so great. You let that guy Paul get to you that bad? He makes one comment and you all gang up and bash him with horrid insults. And if you are going to brag about your team's classiness while showing no class in this forum, then that makes you quite a hypocrite. I could always say, if your team is so classy, why did they receive the largest fine in history for cheating? Or are you going to tell me they cheated in a classy way?

GO PAUL!!!!!! YOU POOR CHOKING MORONS!!!!!! GO GIANTS!!!! I'M SURE THERE WILL BE AN EXCUSE ABOUT THE SB LOSS TO THE GIANTS... THERE ALWAYS IS WITH IDIOTS LIKE YOU PATS FANS....ALL OF YOU HAVE TURNED INTO ARROGANT YANKEE FANS!!!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!
It's too bad someone does not take out Bill Belichick's knee. Where is Tonya Harding when you need her?
I am so sick of hearing about Tom Brady being injured and out for the season...
So what!! Being a Steeler Fan there is nothing more awarding than seeing the New England Cheaters squirm, but enough already!!
I am hearing that this team can still win the AFC, are you kidding me? I would first concentrate on beating the Jets this week...And then move on to next weeks game...And then the next and so on...
You all know you are in trouble!!
By the way you have a long way to go to be the Patriot Nation...It''s STEELER NATION and never forget that!!!
