  1. I'll be the first one to say it: Bring back Michael Bishop!

  1. C'mon Reiss. Do your job and get some info on Brady. Are you telling me you have no source inside the Pats organization that will give you anything on him? No offense, but I think sometimes the Pats beat writers use the "Belichick doesnt give any info" mantra as an excuse to be lazy. Its not just this paper, but all the writers covering the team.

  1. All these years under BB of the Patriots being able to keep pretty much all their inside info tightly under wraps and away from not just all the different beat writers the local outlets have used, but also all the national media and the big names from ESPN, et al.m and Matt think its a matter of "if Reiss tries harder he should definitely be able to get some news?" Talk about clueless!

  1. Hey Matt, if "all the writers covering the team" -- who are, incidentally, competing with one another -- can't get any info, then maybe there's no info to be had.

Once there is, I'm sure Mike will have it, along with his usual excellent insights and perspective.

  1. jackie ryan....u were the first and last to say "bring back...Bishop"....you must be living in a diff world. Cassell did well....you on th eother hand should refrain from these fatalistic, sophomoric comments.

  1. Knowing Bill's opinions on injury disclosure, I feel we'll know what happened to Brady's knee after we know who the next President is. A comparable looking injury (obviously all injuries are different, but just to have some feel) was Matt Hasselback 2 years ago. He was out 6 weeks, I believe, but was not IRed.

  1. What. Mike Reiss is supposed to be able to find out what no other sportswriter has been able to uncover in the BB Era?

What a maroon you are 'Matt'. Why don't you go beat up your kids or something?

  1. Let's see....just throw it to Randy Moss. Randall Cunningham and Dante Culpepper are no better than Matt Cassell or any other back up and look what he did for their career's. It was painful watching Matt hand the ball off a million times. Please let him throw more. No, I'm not crazy.

  1. Hey, you all think they jinxed Brady buy not putting him on the injury report? Good job BB!!

  1. Mike, don't listen to that clown in post 2. You do a great job and this is the best information I've found so far. The ironic part about that idiots post is that as of what, four hours after it happened, I doubt even Tom Brady knows what is wrong with his knee. God forbid the rest of us have to wait...

  1. Matt has it right - Reiss do your job and get some info. Every fan can listen to the post-game speech and official Patriots annoucements - that's all fully public information. Every fan can watch the TV replay and see he hurt his knee. But we need in depth information. Why does the Globe bother paying you for reporting free information we can get anyway? What value do you add? let's get the real story......And Matt Cassell - Fight On!

  1. I think the patriots need to cut brady and move on with Matt Cassell..this guy HAS WHAT IT TAKES TO WIN MULTIPLE SUPERBOWL RINGS!!!

Posted by Kramer September 7, 08 06:19 PM
  1. You people are ridiculous. Reiss is being paid to get information that we cant get. Anyone can cut a paste a transcript of a press conference that the New England Patriots media department distributed to him. And anyone watching Patriots 5th Quarter could have viewed themselves.

Tom Curran of NBC already says his sources are saying its an ACL tear. Any information can be got if you have the right sources. Im not backing down. The Pats beat writers are probably the worst in all of sports the way they ask the obligatory question to Belichick at the press conference....he tells them nothing and they go, "oh well, I guess we tried...heres a transcript of the press conference where Belichick told us jack squat."

  1. I can't believe it....The first time Tom Brady isn't listed on the Injury Report he gets hurt......Go figure....Coach B. Please put him on the report next time....Please?

  1. Hey think of this way.. Tom will have more time to Jetset with his supermodel Girlfriend. Maybe if he had come to camp better prepared he could have been a little more nimble to get out of the way.

  1. I agree with Matt up to a point. If Tom Curran of NBC is reporting an ACL tear, and the story was double sourced it is probably true. If it wasn't double sourced then I have a problem. I remember NBC calling Florida for Al Gore and we all know how that turned out.

  1. Rob you're an idiot for saying that... maybe you can get off the bandwagon now you mushroom

  1. I've really had it with Belichick's paranoid refusal to provide honest information about his team. No, he doesn't owe it to the press or to the competition.

But he sure as HELL owes it to the fans.

If Brady is really hurt, tell us. Stop playing all of these BS games with the injury report and the misinformation. It's a slap in the face to all of those who have defended the Pats and remained loyal fans when everyone else in the country was screaming about Spygate.

  1. I'm glad BB protects injury info. That protects our players from shots other teams might take at a players injured area. It also makes it more difficult for opponents to prepare for the Pats. Live with it.

PS. BB owes you nothing... NOTHING. YOU (we) owe HIM for bringing three titles to town. So shush with your "he sure as hell owes it to the fans".

With championships comes criticsm and sarcasm from other fans. Suck it up, you big baby.

  1. Hey folks.... while knowing is better than not knowing, I am willing to wait a day or so before bad mouthing Belichick or anyone from the team. This must really throw a wrench in the works for fantasy football however. I hope for all Patriot fans that these are precautionary steps and as the week progresses we learn Mr Brady will be fine.

  1. Cassel or no Cassel....he is no Tom Brady....every single game without Brady will be a much closer score [ like today]........it means the Pats will lose more games than ever before....even if Brady returned later on....how nimble will he be; moreso, how brittle will his left knee be??....looks like our Patriots are up the creek without a paddle!!.

  1. ACL is the most misdiagnosed injury in sport....all sports. Soooo, I bet the doctors are being really thorough in their examination and diagnosis,....not so they can tell the fans, but so they can begin Brady's rehab ASAP with maximum effectiveness, and minimum downtime.

I have heard the national media speculate on ACL and MCL....both from "anonymous sources". I'll betcha that the Boston writers have heard the same thing, and aren't speculating. They're waiting until they KNOW, not going with what they THINK.

Matt, you're on the wrong side of this one.

  1. ACL damage is easy to diagnose; difficult to rehab from and fraught with complications. I know both as a patient and a physical therapist. I'm a fan but I feel that the most important thing is the patient. Everyone has a right to privacy (see HIPAA regulations) and that is something we should all remember.
I will miss seeing Tom play but let's give him some space and respect his privacy.
    He's still a person.
While on this topic, it brings back issues that took place with regard to Teddy Bruschi. Some of the same invasive, speculative "journalism" took place invading his and his family's quiet anguish. While it turned out to be a happy ending, the process was wrong, and alot of fans should not demand to be kept in the loop.
It's just none of our business.

  1. Tom Brady was no Drew Bledsoe when he won his FIRST SB...

I believe the initial injury report is due out on Wednesday. Relax. Knowing whether Brady is out for the next game or the season will come in time. Personally, I appreciate Belichick's info-suck. Look how easily the players know their script. Most took a flyer on saying if it was a dirty play. None commented on the injury. AND all of them EXPECT Cassel to step in and DO HIS JOB. It keeps the players doing their jobs and NOT getting caught up in the emotional nature of the fans.

1-0 on our way back to 16-0

  1. As far as I know the ACL talk is all speculation...the Pats won't release any info about this until they have to. Of course, my hope is that Bill is sitting in his office laughing at what is just a slight bruise on Tom's knee, cackling about the fact that the media is making up BS stories to keep itself busy and inject drama into the season.

  1. I've been following the pats since well before their 1-15 days in 1990. Much as it sucks to have #12 out of the lineup for who knows how many games, we've been through worse; the true fans know that. This team is still stacked, just not at the QB position. They're still a playoff team even without Brady. To say they'll lose "more games than ever before" is pure BS. In fact, it's impossible; with a 1-15 season to their credit, they can't do any worse than they've done before.

Stop w/ the drama, we don't even know what the injury is yet. See Spygate for my thoughts on so-called "credible sources".

  1. A season ending injury to the knee is an ACL, MCL or broken bone of some sort. A sprain or strain won't keep a player out all season.
