DeVree in the house
The Patriots entered today with an open spot on their practice squad, and it looks like spot has been filled by tight end Tyson DeVree, who was spotted in the locker room this morning.
DeVree, a 6-foot-6-inch, 245-pounder from the University of Colorado, was with the team in training camp and spent time on the practice squad earlier this year.
The Patriots officially announced the signing of DeVree to the practice squad. Here is a bit from the team's press release:
DeVree, 23, was originally signed by the Patriots as a rookie free agent on May 5, 2008 and was released by the Patriots on June 11 before being re-signed by the Patriots on Aug. 19 and released on Aug. 30. He was signed to the practice squad on Sept. 1 and was released from the practice squad on Sept. 4. DeVree finished his college career at the University of Colorado (2006-07) after transferring from Western Michigan (2003-04) after his sophomore year. The 6-foot-6, 245-pound tight end played in 44 collegiate games making 96 receptions for 987 yards and 15 receiving touchdowns.

How much do guys on the practice squad earn? Is it per week or signed per season? What do they do? Do they just play the opposite side for the offense and defense? So they don't need to know plays?
Back and forth. He might earn a spot eventually.
Hopefully he will earn a spot, the guys is a straight up redzone threat. Plus he is a good character guy to have on the team.
