Injury report
The Patriots released their Friday injury report, and it appears they could be a running back or two short Sunday against the Dolphins.
LaMont Jordan, who ran for 62 yards on 11 carries in a 19-10 win over the Jets last Sunday, is listed as doubtful with an injured foot, while Laurence Maroney is questionable with a shoulder injury.
The report:
Doubtful
RB LaMont Jordan (foot)
WR Kelley Washington (ankle)
Questionable
RB Laurence Maroney (shoulder)
LB Eric Alexander (calf)
Probable
NT Vince Wilfork (back)
Jordan and Washington did not practice. Maroney and Alexander had limited participation. Wilfork had full participation.
The Dolphins reported no injuries.
Maroney left the Jets game in the first half with a shoulder injury, but re-entered with about 2:30 left in the fourth quarter, and carried the ball on second and 5 from the Jets 31. He was tackled for a 1-yard loss. He finished with eight rushes for 16 yards.
Any mention of Maroney and shoulder is concerning since he injured his shoulder his rookie season and had surgery that offseason that caused him to sit out the first two exhibition games last year.
It is unclear how or when Jordan injured his foot.

I will miss Jordan's 'pound' gesture...I think it could catch on here
Those are huge losses at running back if they both don't play, I would be suprised if Maroney did not play though.
Is Ben Watson playing?
It should be interesting to see how this game plays out. Miami's defense has one of the lowest yards per carry average in the league, but their secondary has been bad. Will the Pats abandon the run game and let Cassel open up the passing attack? The passing game is the Dolphin's defense's weakness, but it's also the Pats weakness with Cassel in there.
Without a doubt, Jordon's "pound the ball" gesture was refreshing to see. The Patriots could really use a Corey Dillon type of pound the ball attack in the runiing game. That dancing around crap Maroney does is getting real old real fast.
Look for Sammy Morris and Heath Evans to figure prominently in the game plan. I think they will do just fine against their old team. I think some people are losing confidence in Maroney though. Maybe it's just bad luck, but the guy just can't stay on the field. When he is on the field they need to get him the ball on screens. He is about useless up the middle. Morris and Jordan are better suited for that. As for Jordan, he could be better then Antowain Smith when the weather gets bad. I really like the Patriots running game options, if they can just catch some good luck and get healthy, they will be great!
Whe Maroney runs, it looks to me like he has trouble seeing where the holes are going to open up. He seems to just run up the back of the blockers rather than assessing where the holes are and making a quick cut back. not sure if he needs to be more patient and wait for the hole, or if he needs to be smart enough to see where the openings are if the play doesn't develop exactly as it was supposed to on paper.
