Video: Light, Mankins on improving

Offensive linemen Matt Light and Logan Mankins talked earlier this week about the improvements the Patriots need to make to rebound from last week's loss to the Miami Dolphins.

Light said that the offensive line needs to do more to help quarterback Matt Cassel have more time to pass. But Light also kept it light, joking that, Cassel's presence, "doesn't change what we do, which is pretty much stand out there and look pretty. Which is difficult with these guys, especially Russ (Hochstein)." Hochstein occupies the locker next to Light in the Patriots' locker room.

Mankins suggested the line would take a step backwards this week to see what it needs to improve upon. One area that he said has to change: Scoring touchdowns instead of settling for field goals.

  1. Light and Mankins aren't the ones who need to improve. Koppen, in my opinion, has been a major disappointment as a blocker. I know Belichick and Brady both rave about him as a smart center who makes good pre-snap adjustments, but his physical abilities show why he was drafted in the 5th round. He can't generate push on running plays and is inconsistent in pass protection. Yates/Hochstein are mediocre, and Kaczur gets beaten too frequently to be valuable on a team that relies so heavily on the passing game. I think their play just goes to show how good Brady is in the pocket. He makes the entire line look better than it is.
