Maroney back to full-pads practice

Posted by Mike Reiss, Globe Staff September 24, 2008 12:40 PM

FOXBOROUGH -- The Patriots are holding their afternoon full-pads practice on the two upper fields behind Gillette Stadium, and notable is the presence of RB Laurence Maroney.

Maroney missed Sunday's loss to the Dolphins with a shoulder injury. He had been present at last Friday's practice, which wasn't held in full pads.

Others not spotted for the media-access portion of today's full-pads practice included:

  • WR Kelley Washington (right ankle)
  • CB Lewis Sanders
  • S Rodney Harrison
  • OT Mark LeVoir
  • DL Le Kevin Smith

Since the workout was held on the upper fields, it had a training camp-like feel to it because that's where camp practices are held. It makes sense, as coach Bill Belichick talked about the team returning to some fundamentals-type work this week.

The plan will be to pass along some of the sights and sounds from this morning's media access -- Bill Belichick's 10:50 a.m. press conference; open locker room from 11-11:45 a.m. -- a bit later in the day.

    1. Time for Maroney to put up or shut up. This guy is more fragile than glass. He may have talent, but it doesn't do anyone any good if he can't stay on the field.

    1. Talent yes Being able to stop dancing and hitting the hole mmm not so much.. He has all the tools, but lacks vision and hitting the hole. Shame because I thought he would be a stud.

    1. we had no running game before he was hurt, and probably wont when we start playing again after the bye.not until we can get blockers to block.

    1. not to jump on just you Ryan. But what do you do if your dodging defenders in the back field or there is no hole? I didn't see many big rips come from the backs Sunday. You got to admit it gets everyone fired up to see that stiff arm come out. Again not singling you out

    1. Rog not to single you out, but Lawrence didn't play Sunday. SML talked about Lawrence and I commented about him as well. I'm not sure what the lack of holes sunday has to do with Lawrence, but please let me know. Lawrence dances behind the line.. So if you are going to single people out try to stay on topic. Thanks
