Meet our team

Posted by Mike Reiss, Globe Staff September 4, 2008 09:20 AM

As the Patriots get set to open the 2008 season, it seems like the right time to introduce a few members of our enthusiastic Boston Globe/Boston.com team who plan to follow all aspects of New England's Super Bowl quest:

  • Mike Reiss -- Mike first began covering the Patriots in 1997-98 while writing for the team's official newspaper and web site, and also covered the team for the MetroWest Daily News. He joined the Globe in 2005.

  • Christopher Gasper -- Christopher first began working at Boston.com in 2001 and officially joined the Boston Globe the following year. He began covering the Patriots in September of 2006.

  • Chad Finn -- Chad was recently named to Boston.com's newly created online sports reporter/writer position, where he'll contribute news in this space from time to time as well as provide commentary on the Patriots in his Touching All the Bases blog.

  • Chris Forsberg -- Chris interned with the Globe from 1999-2003 before joining the staff at Boston.com in 2006. He covers the high school sports beat, but will lend his talents (and video camera) to our Patriots coverage.

The blog should not be much different than years past, but with more voices and hands on deck, it allows us to provide even more in-depth coverage.

We look forward to following the Patriots throughout the 2008 season, offering sights and sounds from Gillette Stadium and the road, as well as analysis and insight on the team. We hope you join in from time to time by using our comments feature.

    1. Hi Mike,
You and PFT are the first places I go for football info. Just wondering if you would consider doing an NFL picks contest on the blog? I have had fun doing the Inside the NFL picks in years past, would love to see one here.
      Thanks!

    1. Mike,

Do you have enough cap space for one more?

It always good to carry 5 writers for an upcoming season.

    1. Great team, I think you guys need a Bandito. How about a writing contest or something? Just ask and I will send some samples.

Oh and can we get pictures attached so we can see what each of you look like. And no women? I know a lot of female Pats fans.

    1. Mike,

You have become the authority for Pats news. I have been following The Boston Patriots since the first season, 1960, you do a great job and I read your notes several times a day. Keep up the excellent reporting. One More Super Bowl Victory!

    1. I actually think Mike is one of the best beat reporters in the country.
Im a journalist myself, and I think his work is truly admirable. Clear, concise, objective and, in the right way, cautious and measured.

Riess Pieces is always my first port of call, heres to a great season!

    1. Hey Mike,
I mentioned this previously but this new team that is assembled along with your past unbiased coverage is a the ultimate source for all things Patriots for all NFL fans. As much as you respect the writers of years past, I welcome the objective analysis of the team without all the hackish agendas and stooorylines seen on the Globe pages in the past.

      Keep up the good work.

    1. Thanks for all the hard work! This is the first and only place I turn to for real news on The Patriots. Truly a first class site.

Thanks for making this transplanted fan feel like I'm home.

    1. Be careful with that video camera Chris. We wouldn't want the Globe to get fined $500k and lose a first-round pick!

    1. We are really fortunate to have this team connecting us with the Patriots! The only request I would make is that the moderator of Reiss' Pieces shorten the hours it now takes for comments to appear.

    1. Mike, caught you on the globe 10.0, I really appreciate your efforts. Keep up the frequent and informative posts. Reiss' Pieces is clearly the best local sports blog that I have read.

Try to let us know when you will be on TV.
