Meriweather: 'I'm feeling good'

Posted by Chris Forsberg, Boston.com Staff September 3, 2008 12:59 PM

Patriots safety Brandon Meriweather talked to reporters today and said he hoped to return to the practice field this afternoon and to game action Sunday when New England opens the regular season by hosting the Kansas City Chiefs.

"I hope I'm able to help the team [Sunday] any way I can," Meriweather said.

The second-year defensive back has been sidelined with a leg injury suffered Aug. 17 in a preseason game against Tampa Bay. He was injured on the game's initial drive, limping off following a 2-yard run by Warrick Dunn. It appeared that Meriweather was hurt on the previous play, when he tackled Dunn at the conclusion of a 7-yard rush and had defensive end Richard Seymour land on top of him.
