More on Mayo's cast

Posted by Christopher L. Gasper, Globe Staff September 30, 2008 03:06 PM

In today's Patriots notebook, it was pointed out that rookie inside linebacker Jerod Mayo was spotted wearing a black cast on his left wrist and forearm yesterday. A league source said today that Mayo, who was present at practice yesterday, was wearing the cast for protection because his wrist was "hurt a little" last week.

The source claimed Mayo was fine and that the wrist would not be an issue. Mayo did not answer questions about the cast yesterday, as he politely declined comment. The Patriots are off today, so there is no player availability.

The Patriots have to release their first practice participation/injury update tomorrow. It will be interesting to see if Mayo's wrist warrants him showing up on the report.
