Practice report
FOXBOROUGH -- The Patriots are holding their afternoon practice on the lower field behind Gillette Stadium and colleague Christopher L. Gasper reports that kicker Stephen Gostkowski was not present for the media-access portion of the session (12:10 p.m.).
In addition to Gostkowski, the others not spotted for the practice -- which was held in shorts and light shoulder pads (shells) -- were:
The Patriots also confirmed that punter Reggie Hodges was signed to the practice squad, tight end Tyson DeVree was released from the practice squad, tight end Stephen Spach has been signed to the 53-man roster, and tight end Jason Pociask has been released.

Mike,
Can you explain the revolving TEs?
If Pociask was smart, he would've told NE that he'll tell them everything he knows about the Jets on Monday. Now he doesn't get a guaranteed salary. maybe the Jets will sign him to their practice squad and he went to NE w/scripted BS to throw NE off.
mike, was tom brady there and how did he look? was he moving and throwing with his usual ease?
Wes Welker better get ready to do that kicking sunday
Hi dd lang. I think the TE stuff is tied to Benjamin Watson's status. It doesn't look like Watson will be ready for the season opener, so they need to get someone ready with David Thomas. They must have figured Kociask was a bit further away than Spach, who was with them in camp. Chris, it was my colleague Christopher L. Gasper out at practice, so I did not see Brady myself.

Steve:
Give me a break, do you really think there is that much scheming going on, considering both teams already know each other.
Why would the Pats even be worried about what the Jets are doing?
