The Patriots just released their eight captains for the 2008 season, with receiver Randy Moss among the group.

Here is the breakdown:

  • WR Randy Moss

    Defense

The Patriots' 2008 captains were elected by their teammates this week.

This is Brady's seventh straight season as a captain. Light and Moss are first-time Patriots captains.

Bruschi in his seventh season as a Patriots captain. Harrison will serve as a Patriots captain for the fifth time. Wilfork is a first-time captain.

Izzo will serve as the Patriots’ special teams captain for the eighth straight season.

    1. Mike, are they going to continue to not wear the "C" patch?

    1. I find it interesting once again Richard Seymore was not selected as a captain. I think it points to a reputation that is bigger outside the locker room then inside......I'm trying to think of a meaningful play this guy has made since 2005! He seems to get a pass around here. So sick of reading that he doesn't have stats because he gets double and triple teamed so others can get the stats! Bogus, watch the games...he Rarely is double teamed anymore....he seems avg. at best.

    1. JAM,

Seymour was great before he signed his big contract. Since then, you're correct, he's been mediocre at best.
Whether that's due to injuries or what, he's been the worst of the 3 DLs.

    1. Seymour is obviously healthy and will be a big force this year, he has been injured for the last couple. I disagree that his reputation outside is bigger than inside. Ask any of his teamates, they all view him as one of the top leaders and most respected players on the team. In terms of being a captain, last year was the first he had not been one since his rookie year. Last year he was inileegible because he was on the PUP list to start the year. You may remember that Ty Warren was a captain last year, and now Wilfork this year. it seems as if it is rotating on the D-line now. expect Seymour to be a captain again next year. You think the players think any less of Kevin Faulk just because he wasn't picked as a captain again this year?
