The Globe's Mike Reiss talks about the emergence of Lewis Sanders at cornerback. The question entering the season was, "Who would replace Asante Samuel?" and few expected it to be Sanders, but he started opposite Ellis Hobbs in Sunday's season-opener against the Chiefs.

Written summary:
One of the surprising aspects of the Patriots' performance in the season opener was what they did at cornerback. Lewis Sanders started opposite of Ellis Hobbs, with Deltha O'Neal the third man in. Those three players rotated throughout the game.
Sanders is the surprise. At 6-foot-1, 210 pounds, he is the team's biggest cornerback, and he is physical in run support, similar to former Patriots cornerback Chad Scott.
That size and physicality was a good matchup against Dwayne Bowe (6-2, 221) and could be a factor this week against Jerricho Cotchery (6-0, 207) and Laveranues Coles (5-11, 193).
When predicting how the Patriots would replace Asante Samuel, few figured that Sanders -- an unheralded free-agent signing -- would be the choice. But he's suddenly an important cog.
These video's are pointless
I can't watch them at work
Why don't you just tell me these updates instead of the video
Oh... so you're one they put these videos out for.
Actually they're not terribly informative anyway, so you're not missing much, just a bit of video fluff.
Thanks, staff, for the videos. I much prefer them over nothing.
Mike, I love your work, but Lew Sanders is sketchy @ CB, imo. Once O'Neil has himself sorted out, he and Wheatley are #2 and #3 - at least based on last weeks game.
I don't know if he will be a factor against the Jets. Coles is one of the faster receivers in the league, and Sander's size may make him vulnerable. Cotchery may not be as fast, but he has burned the Pats in the past. He was just in there to keep the seat warm for ONeal to learn the system a bit more. He did play well though. Ditto on the vids
Greg and TD,

Someone in the Boston Globe IT department just got their hands on some new technology and wants to use it...
I do like the written summaries though...
The videos rock! Greg get off the blog and go back to listening to your eight tracks!
Nikos,
Shouldn't you be working? Or do you not have a job.
Keep up the good work Mike. I wasn't expecting Sanders to start, given his resume and the varying degrees of productivity we've had from other FA corners. Will be interesting to see if he can hold down the starters role moving forward.
Just wanted to say great job guys! Although I do prefer the written information as I can stay up to date with the Patriots while I'm at work. I'm a Pats fan living in Vancouver, Canada and I really appreciate all the hard work you guys do!
Nikos:
Ever heard of a lunch break? Or do they allow you to have one with your assistant manager's job at Burger King?
