Troy passed up opportunity to play elsewhere

Posted by Mike Reiss, Globe Staff September 25, 2008 10:36 AM

Troy Brown talked about passing up the chance to play with another team.

"I probably had the opportunity to do it but it just wasn’t the right color," he said. "I didn’t think I looked good in green and white again."

  1. Troy--You are the MAN!!!! Their has been no player I can say I respect more than you. You are the classiest, hardest working Patriot who showed grit and determination from the time to you were drafted to all of the clutch plays throughout the years you've made for our team. Thanks for all the great effort. I hope BB and his staff will look to bring you into the coaching ranks. You'd be a great addition. All the best and Enjoy golfing this season!!!!! :-)

    Sincerely

    John Baker

  1. A true professional. A real athelete roll-model for children. I had the opportunity to tell him once in person and I hope to again some day. It was a a joy to watch him play football. Not to mention his position about wearing green and white. Thank you Troy.

  1. A True Patriot thru good times and bad - Troy is of another generation, another era,
when players played for ONE team year in and year out!

Now he walks out on top, and gives up a paycheck from another team to retire as a forever Patriot - legacy intact! (Think Farve)

Thank you TROY, for being a REAL TEAMMATE, and a helluva football player!
    You made Sunday FUN!

  1. Troy Brown is the epitome of what an Athlete should be and what has been lost with "Athletes" today.
He is the reason for a fan to dream about being a Proffessional Football player or any kind of Professional Athlete.
He is the reason that Fans cheer, that Fans go to the games to watch him play, that Fans want to meet him in order to verfiy that he is real and actually exists.
He has explemplified one of the higher levels of existance, by pursuing his goals to their fullest and in doing so with humility and respect for others.

I wish Troy Brown and his family all the best, and I continue to struggle on communinicating how much I appreciate what he has done for me and my family as fans.

  1. From WV to Boston you were the man. You exemplified class, integrity and professionalism. You showed us how to win and how to lose. Your head was always held high.
May god be with you now and in the future.
Thanks for all that you did.

  1. Troy, we have enjoyed watching the game more because of your contributions to the team. You are truly one of the greatest, and exemplified what the Patriots are all about. The season you played both sides of the ball was one of the best to watch, and your willingness to do so was truly what teamwork is all about.

Thank you so much for the great games year after year, and we are so glad you never played anywhere except in NE. Just could not fathom you playing for any other team. You would make an excellent coach, though.

Enjoy your retirement...You've earned the best, and our family wishes that for you and yours.
