Troy talked to team this morning
Troy Brown talked to the Patriots in a team meeting this morning at 9:30. Players said that Brown was given a standing ovation, and that is was also meaningful to hear Bill Belichick speak glowingly about him.
In his press conference, Brown talked about how much it meant to him to be a lifetime Patriot.
"The only colors you'll ever see on my back are the red, white and blue of the New England Patriots. I'm proud to say it," he said, as his eyes moistened with a few tears.
"It's a wonderful ride. I can't think of anything better in life than enjoying a Sunday afternoon playing football. Now I enjoy Sunday afternoons watching football and saying in my head 'I can make that play.'"

Troy Brown will go down as one of the most overrated football players of all time. Just because he was the 3rd best reciever on a few championship team everyone thinks he is great. Wow so he played defense a few plays...who cares.
I am not a Patriot fan, I am a Bears fan, but I was married to a Pats fan & have been to a few games, namely the 'snow game'. I have watched many Pats games & I have always known by just watching Troy Brown play that he is a wonderful man. He will always be my favorite Patriot player, infact, I would name him my all time 2nd player ever, right behind the late great, Walter Payton. I salute him to not change teams, he is a loyal player & his heart is with the Patriots. Thank you, Troy Brown for many wonderful years of being a great football player, offensive & defensive. To all of the other Patriot players, take a lesson from this man on & off the field. Thank you from a football fan. You are a class act!! Best wishes.
Troy Brown
You are my favorite pro athlete of all time. Fortunately for me, I grew up during your playing days. As a 28 year old, you have taught me what it is like to be self-less and a team player. You were an amazing athlete and deserve all of the praise that is directed towards you. I will proudly attend Troy Brown Night on November 13th. Your memories will never fade. Best wishes to you and your family!

Troy Brown epitomizes the team ethic and he's been a class act all the way. Players come and go, but when they're gone what you have are memories and how those memories are perceived. Troy Brown never let his ego explode, he simply showed up, worked hard, and made big plays.
Thanks Troy!
I am sad to see Troy go, but I am glad he did it on his terms and I am grateful that he chose to retire having played for my team and my team only. ( It would have killed me to see him in Green or any other color for that matter) Troy is and always will be the epitome of a true Patriot. He did what he was called upon to do and never complained. I have never been prouder to be a fan than I am to be a fan of Troy Brown and the entire Patriots organization.
Troy, you gave me many years of enjoyment, thrills and chills. You were an integral part of the Superbowl wins and you will forever be one of my all time favorite Patriots. Good Luck to you and your family. I hope you stick around these parts and continue to be part of this great community that adores you.
Greatest patriot of all time
retire his number, make him a coach
Troy could have made some good money if he signed with the Jets and gave them the New England game plan and then sat on the bench or got in a handful of plays. They didn't need him on the field necessarily, but I'm sure could have "spied" that way ... as everybody does in the league.
Instead, Troy did the right thing ... class act and great player. Got a bunch of rings on his fingers as well!
To Bill Belichick:
Give Troy Brown an Assistant Coach position of some kind. He is THE example the young players need to have around and he's got tons of "football smarts." How about assistant WR coach, assistant DB coach and/or assistant special teams coach?
Favre is better than Cassel, he was the number one receiver on the 2001 Super Bowl team and until last year held the team single season reception record and was a tremendous special teams player. I guess facts don't matter much, huh? Useless Jets fan....
Favre is better than Cassel - maybe you forget that during their first Super Bowl Troy Brown was their # 1 receiver and caught 101 passes. In the AFC championship game he returned a punt for a touchdown and was in on a blocked field goal. 2 Years ago against the Chargers he stripped the ball from a D-Back right after Tom Brady threw what should have been a game ending interception. Right there I just named more big plays that Brett Favre or any of your beloved Jets have had in their entire careers.
Troy Brown is underrated only by those that don't understand how key he was on 3rd downs, special teams, how he is the all time franchise leader in receptions, something that you don't get unless you are having the ball chucked your way and chucked your way because the QB has confidence in you to catch it. I salute Troy Brown for being one of those rare athletes these days who can say they completed their career with only 1 team.....that is loyalty!
hey Favre...you're a moron. Troy Brown is the leading receiver in Pats history.
Troy, you are my all time favorite receiver but not just a receiver. You were an all around guy that I really admired. I missed watching you play but I understand that you want to retire.
I'm grateful for all that you have contributed to the Patriots and you will always be remembered fondly. Good luck with retirement!
From the hills of WV to the Patriots place of Foxboro he exemplified class, integrity and professionalism.
Whether it be defense, offence, special teams or bingo he gave all he had. He showed us how to win and how to lose, always walking like a man and holding his head high.
The Patriots will always be a winner if they follow Troy's example.
Good luck friend you will never be forgotten.
Seriously Troy Brown overrated? But not Favre?
I bet you never heard of Troy Brown before you read this article. What a joke.
