Written summary:

  • Mid-to-late September games in New England can be some of the best, elements-wise, in the NFL. Today is a perfect football day.
  • With RB LaMont Jordan (foot) unlikely to play today, and RB Laurence Maroney (shoulder) also uncertain, more onus will fall on Sammy Morris, Kevin Faulk, Heath Evans and maybe even Kyle Eckel.
  • The Patriots are one of nine NFL teams to win the opening coin toss in each of the first two weeks. Five teams took the ball. Two teams deferred the choice to the second half. Two teams chose the ball one week, and deferred the next. The Patriots took the ball their opening game, looking to get Tom Brady and the offense on the field against the Chiefs. The team deferred the choice to the second half against the Jets, setting up more of a defensive-minded approach. It will be interesting to watch what the team does today if it wins the toss.
