Video: Reiss on the RBs

Posted by Mike Reiss, Globe Staff September 17, 2008 02:56 PM

The Globe's Mike Reiss talks about Laurence Maroney, after the Patriots running back missed the media portion of Wednesday's practice. To watch the video, click on the "full entry" link at the bottom of this entry.

Written summary:
Running backs Laurence Maroney and LaMont Jordan weren't at the media-access portion of today's practice.

  • It is too early to read too much into that, because wide receiver Randy Moss wasn't present at the start of last Wednesday's practice and he still played against the Jets.
  • Still, it does lead one to pause and ask "What's happening with Maroney?"
  • He showed signs of explosiveness in the season opener, but was bottled up in gaining 16 yards on 8 carries against the Jets. He injured his shoulder in the game, missed two-plus quarters, but returned for one carry in the fourth quarter.
  • With Maroney and Jordan absent today, the team's depth wasn't as thin as it would have been if running back Kyle Eckel wasn't signed earlier this week.

    1. I like your Blog Mike and this is the first place I visit for reliable news on the Pats. But the videos...THE VIDEOS....of you talking keep catching me off guard cause I think your going to show examples of your discussion!! Can you show some footage while you talk? Don't get me wrong...your a fine lookin' guy but we already know that - let's include some football!

    1. Agreed, but the Globe probably does not have broadcasting rights to NFL footage. I like hearing what Mike has to say, but must confess I prefer watching Christina Akra for some reason when it comes to video....
