Posted by Mike Reiss, Globe Staff October 5, 2008 06:47 PM

Receiver Isaac Bruce caught a 5-yard touchdown from J.T. O'Sullivan with 10:22 remaining in the fourth quarter, helping the 49ers close the gap on the Patriots, 27-21.

That was the 49ers' best sustained drive of the day, an 11-play march that covered 80 yards and lasted 4:31.

A pass interference penalty on safety Brandon Meriweather aided the 49ers' drive.
