Couple the remarks about the Patriots with his version of why Lane Kiffen was fired "for cause", and you see a picture of a vindictive old man who is in denial that the NFL has passed him by. With a fan base like that in Oakland, a decent owner would have a conveyor belt running to take the money to the bank. Not so Mr. Davis. By handling his team as if it were the AFL of the 60's, he is a disgrace to the league.

I love Al, I hope he lives forever so that the Raiders always stink. The fact that he is still carrying around a grudge from 86 &01 makes me feel all warm inside. Can't wait to beat them later this year.

No matter what happens this season with Cassell or O'Connell or whoever--even if the Patriots don't win their division or make the playoffs--we can still be proud of the team and enjoy the season for one fact: Al Davis is not the owner, Robert Kraft is. The difference is night and day.

The NFL should investigate this claim of tampering by the Patriots. When it's found to be false, Al Davis should be fined and docked a first round draft pick for slandering and defaming the Patriots. This is absolutely disgusting. What he said is slander!

The raiders were awful, the patriots had won 3 superbowls in the last 6-7 years. The Raiders had no bargaining power because they were paying a fortune for Moss who wanted nothing to do with them. That Moss took a huge pay cut just to get out of Oakland demonstrates that Oakland was an awful mess of its own making. It had nothing to do with NE, and Moss could have just as easily gone to Green Bay, San Diego, Indianapolis (though they didn't really need receivers at the time), Dallas or any number of other successful franchises.

I feel bad for Moss that he now has to play without Brady, which is probably a major factor in his decision to sign with NE over the Eagles, but I have no sympathy for Oakland, a team who's owner doesn't stand behind his head coach during the season, interferes with the draft choices, and then points the finger at everyone else when things go wrong.

Maybe it's time for Goodell to step in before Specter/Comcast gets wind of this. Mortgage crisis? What mortgage crisis? THIS NEEDS IMMEDIATE ACTION IN WASHINGTON!!! hahaha.

Al Davis is lucky to have any coaches or players considering the way that he treats them. You just have to look at the polls posted today about the recent firing of the head coach of the Raiders and the concensus is that Al Davis was wrong to fire the head coach.

I can't stand the Raiders and it pains me as a tax payer in Alameda county that we (Alameda County residents) paid Millions to renovate the coliseum. I am a Raiders Fan and always will be. That said, I despise Al Davis for what he has done to the Raiders and the Raider name. Yeah my team sucks, because Al has his dirty hands in everything. If he would just leave it alone we could be a team, not just a second rate throw back that other teams love to play because they know the Faiders won't make it to the 4th with their old broken down players. Noone wants to play for us becasue of Al, why would they. I wish he would just fade away but I fear that someone in Oakland would save his brain and we will be left with him for eternity....God help us all

Al Davis has been, is and always will be a superstar and pioneer of pro football. He still has his head together. I dont know what you idiots were watching but Al made a compelling case why he fired that little snot nose.

Raiders have been on hard times but they've also had decades of being the top franchise in the NFL. Cant last forever but only an imbecile would blame Davis.

It is worse than a sickness to enjoy making a specacle out of being hateful, lying, and poisonous. This may actually be more enjoyable to him than being successful. The "win" mantra masks a truly diseased soul, but this is closer to his true nature. Maybe the team is being sabotaged deliberately in order for this to happen. There is a weird psychological thing going on in Oakland , with Al Davis. He doesn't want the responsibility of coaching the team ,mostly because it exposes him to failure if they lose . He insulates himself behind a hamstrung head coach , calls the shots , vetoes decisions , and generally micro-manages every move the team makes, both on and off the field. If things go good , and they often have , everybody has a great time and superbowls come along and the Raiders kick ass .

If the plan doesn't gel , he blames it all on the head coach and fires him.

Bottom line , his game plan has worked enough times to be considered credible , and the Raiders have attended enough superbowls to prove it. The current program is pretty f'ed up , but can you really bet against this guy over the long term ?
