Carey gets the call

Posted by Mike Reiss, Globe Staff October 5, 2008 12:51 PM

Mike Carey is scheduled to referee today's game between the Patriots and 49ers.

This is the Patriots' first game with Carey since the veteran referee worked Super Bowl XLII between the Patriots and Giants.

For a bit more on Carey, this is a story that ran in the Boston Globe from Super Bowl Sunday.

The Patriots have been flagged for just seven accepted penalties through three games, which coach Bill Belichick said has been a positive aspect of the team's 2-1 start.
