Kraft: Brady surgery went well
SAN DIEGO -- After his presentation of an AFC Championship ring to linebacker Junior Seau today, Patriots owner Robert Kraft answered questions from reporters at Seau's restaurant.
The Globe's Christopher L. Gasper asked about quarterback Tom Brady's surgery, and Kraft responded by saying:
“Thank goodness the surgery went well. He’ll be returning to Boston shortly and doing his rehab there. He’s focusing on being as good as he can be next year. He’s doing what he has to do. He really has a great attitude. I’m not sure I could be as up as he is.”
Kraft talked about how special he feels Brady is as a person, noting that "his attitude is so good" and that "he's moving on to next year."
"He does what no other athlete I know does," Kraft said. "In the end, please God, we hope to have him here for another 10 years.
"This is a minor setback – or a major setback – but we have a pretty good team. I’m very proud of the way the guys have rallied around one another. Just think about how down we all felt, and that devastating feeling when your worst nightmare happens – in the first quarter of the first game. You can’t say you're not impacted when you lose the best player in the NFL.
"On the other hand, we’re in the business of quality depth management. We have a system. We have a wonderful organization that has carried on. I’m very proud of how they’ve done so far. I hope we get the order tonight and do what we have to do. I know they had a very good of practice here and I hope it translates to the field.”

Kraft worships anything Tom Brady did or will do. How many therapists are needed to keep Tom Brady in a good mood? Of course, he is going to work hard to come back. He has a lot of real estate to pay for and maybe, hopefully, but or supported while Jack's mother was pregnant with him. He put his relationship with the nude model first and his son and his son's mother far down the list. He accused her of trying to make him look like a jerk when she was pregnant with his son. This is the type of guy that Robert Kraft admires. Isn't that sad? It's all about winning and money.
Missed part of my comment - I mean to say that maybe, hopefulloy, but probably not, he is paying child support, but either way, he has not supported Jack or his mother during the pregnancy at all, nor the birth, nor afterwards. Not until the public outrage did he find an afternoon every few months to see his firstborn son.
Aside from silvercardrivers comments (who is obviously a Jet fan), I'm thrilled to hear the surgery went well.
Silvercarddriver......SHUTUP!!!!!!!
Silvercardriver - get a grip and lose the ignorant venom from all your lousy relationships!
Good for Tom, He's a class act.
SilverCarDriver- J(just)-E(end)-T(the)-S(season)!!! JETS JETS JETS!
who cares if he supports his kid. 2,000,000 dead beat dads out there and you worry about tom brady. im sure bridget is a great hollywood mom and has moved on to the next hot athlete/actor/male model/celebrity. im sure financial child support is not the issue and im positive bridget can afford the kid alone. if brady choses to not be part of fatherhood, so be it. all i care about is him as an athlete. if he trains hard and plays by the rules of the nfl and the pats and helps them win games, i could care less what he does in his personal life. pac man jones punches strippers. other nfl lineman beat their wives and some shoot people in public. TB being a dead beat is nothing at all. Damn i wanna leave my wife and be a deadbeat dad like Tom! GOOooooo Brady!
Great news. Looking for a full reccovery & a great return next season Go Pats
So let's see. You, Silvercardriver, know nothing about Tom Brady's private life other that what you read in the tabloids. What a great source of information.
One might assume Brady got operated on in LA so he could be close to his son. There is certainly no shortage of talented physicians in Boston.
Brady is a class act. He's a stand up guy who also happens to be one of the best quarterbacks to have ever played the posiiton. Five-and-dimers like you, Silvercardriver, don't recogniae real class when you see it.
If Tom Brady was involved in a dog fighting ring - you Pats fans would still sing his praises - as it is, he is worse than that - he dissed his unborn son and the mother-to-be - that's a loser to anyone that isn't a Pat's fan! Maybe if he wasn't so busy trying to keep the supermodel happy - you might still have him as a QB.
Am I reading the Globe or Herald ?? some comments here confused me .....
So now we're comparing Tom Brady to Mike Vick, that's logical if you live on Mars!
Silvercardriver honestly you really are so off base with your comments. Just because Brady was not around that much this offseason, does not mean he was not training hard. In fact he stayed on the west coast to be with his son.
I mean the guy is an 8 year pro, I think he knows what he has to do to stay in shape.
hey silvercardikhead! WTF! Are you Bridgets' new boyfriend or something? You know for a absolute fact that Brady didn't give his kids mother any money or went to see her before or after she gave birth? Please, give me some evidence so I can believe you! You cant give me any can you? Because your a HATER! Your a jealous little Mary who lives in his moms' basement. You live to go into chat rooms and stir up sh1t! Your a queer and get a life!
Silvercardriver, are you a member of the papparazzi? Are you with Tom 24/7? How the heck do you know what he's doing and where he is at all times? If Tom Brady were my son I'd be prouder n' hell of him. No one's perfect. Tom will be back next year and he'll be your worse nightmare.
I don't remember him "dissing" the mother of his child, and really she was making him look like the bad guy. I don't know what Tom was supposed to do, drop his girlfriend (and does the relationship mean less because she is a supermodel?) and get back with the ex-girlfriend? Yeah that would work out great, getting back together for the kid, trust me as the kid in a situation like that it sucks when it goes bad.
As far as we know he never cheated on her and she found out she was pregnant after they brokeup, stuff happens and it's not like he refuses to aknowledge the kid.
As a longtime NFL and Patriots fan, I think Tom Brady is one of the best professional athletes ever. If it is true that Tom is a deadbeat dad, he is a lot lesser person in my eyes. Not a lesser athlete, quarterback, but a lot lesser person. Thing is, how many of us really know what the situation is in his personal life? As a retired media worker, I can say you should take with many grains of salt what the supermarket tabloids report. That said, we still don't really know what goes on in TB's personal life -- do we?
dear silvercardriver,if brains were dynamite, you wouldn't be able to blow your nose.your comments re:tom were BEYOND stupid.please think before you think.
I have a question - can anyone out there help me? Last year
Tom had both shoulder and ankle problems. If they still exist
wouldn't this be the ideal time to have them treated, including
any necessary additional operations?
Does anyone out there know why he waited this long to have the surgery? Must be a reason. It would seem he would have had it last winter; why wait 8 months? Makes it less likely he'll be 100% come traing camp next year.
dear silvercardriver.......what? come on guy, live your own life, worry more about what is real, like the life around you, stop getting your thrills from somebody else, lead by example, dont expect others to do the right thing or wrong thing, you cant control them....
Silvercardriver - nice unfounded personal attacks. I hope everyone who took the time to read all your posts will realize it's better to ignore you, rather than feed into your sh!t and bash you (though you deserve it if they do).
On a real note...Kraft said "We’re in the business of quality depth management." At the end of the 3rd of the SD game, looks like we could use some depth at CB/RB/QB. I fear Brandon Marshall & a fully medicated Jay Cutler on 10/20.
....and RT, stupid Kazur going down too.
I queried a search to check on Tom Brady's post surgery condition and this link became my first choice. It's obvious from most of the comments following the main article that there are many Patriot fans who have a great deal of pride and respect for Brady and Patriots, as well should be. He and they deserve the respect. This is totally off topic, but I can't help the compulsion. "Michael", I'm hoping your comment for SCD was an emotional one with which you got carried away. I don't mean to offend you man, but if your "true values" are identical to your comments, please don't have children until you have something worthy of teaching a child.
I think Brady waited to have the surgery because he suffered tears to both the ACL and MCL. Apparently, it is not uncommon in patients with both injuries to wait until the MCL heals somewhat before operating on the ACL.
The knee injury didn't happen until the first game of this season. If I'm correct in my assumption, the surgeons waited until the miniscus tear healed a bit before repairing the ACL and MCLdamage.
So sad - the Pat's are losing to San Diego - too bad Tom Brady was too busy chasing his supermodel to Europe and Costa Rica - surfing and fashion shows; oh - don't forget dining at the finest restaurants in New York City - home of the Giants that kicked his butt in the SB - he didn't have time to work out this past off season - he thought he was too good to actually have to work out .... but you'll forgive him anything, right?
Tom Brady is a very private person, he doesnt like to put his personal life out there like many others do. So there is no way that Sivercardriver could know anything personal about Tom, Bridget, baby John or Gisele. All this person is doing is typing trash because they know that New England fans get upset. More so, this person is showing thier ignorance. My guess is that if Tom wasnt paying child support he wouldnt be seeing John, period. And thats only a guess.
Hey Silvercardriver,
You sound like some kind of stalker who probably followed Brady around the Michigan campus, stealing his towels and breaking into his apartment. And maybe once you held the door open for him at the student community center, and he didn't say thanks and become your best friend, so you've hated him for it ever since.
You're a loser.
Of course, he is going to work hard to come back. He has a lot of real estate to pay for...
The anger that this causes me to feel is IMMENSE. It has NEVER been about money with Tom Brady. He signed for far less than he was worth because he wanted that money going into the rest of the team. Look at last year... are you ready for this list?... Carson Palmer, Brett Favre, Eli Manning, Matt Hasselbeck, Marc Bulger, Philip Rivers, Donovan McNabb, Peyton Manning and Matt Leinhart ALL had a higher cap value than Tom Brady did. And for all you people who thought Brady's success was from this system that he's in I hope this finally proves other wise. Most prolific offense in the history of the game loses 1 player, and they all of a sudden are one of the worst offenses in the league. That doesn't just happen.
Please, Kraft, stop with your drooling. Kraft's in love with Brady, just like he was in love with Bledsoe before him.
Brady was not the first player to get injured and have his season cut short. Plenty of other players have had to overcome many more challenges than Brady has or ever will. Lot's of injured players have an incredibly positive attitude, even in the face of repeated injuries. Look at a guy like Chad Pennington and everything he's had to go through. Let's see if Tom would have a positive attitude if he had to rehab more than one serious injury. Until then, stfu.
I have to agree. I may not know much about Tom's personal life. But I do know this, he left the mother of his child while she was pregnant. Then he went straight into the arms of a supermodel. On that fact alone, I don't know how Kraft can stand up there and call him a class act.
Um, forgive me if I'm missing something angry anti-Brady commenters, but can you actually give a source that says Tom even knew Bridget was pregnant when they broke up? Everything I remember seeing at the time was that she told him about the pregnancy after they split. As someone with many friends who are the products of divorced or otherwise not-together parents, the ones whose parents split up once it was obvious they didn't belong together grew up better off than those whose parents tried to fruitlessly stay together "for the kids." Nowhere has there been any allegation that Tom hasn't been paying child support (really, that would be front page news in this celebrity-obsessed society, no?). Those of you who are taking his silence over his child and ex as "evidence" that he's a bad father don't respect the fact that he gives his son the best chance of growing up normal by NOT constantly talking about him.
"Silvercarder"- 1) You have zero idea of the circumstances between Bridgette Moynihan, Tom Brady, and the birth of their child. Zero. You simply don't know. Neither do I. Brady could be a great guy caught in a bad situation, he could be a great guy who made a bad decision, or he could be a jerk who made a jerk decision. We don't know. So stop pretending you do. 2) If you knew half of what ALL athletes did, you'd be disgusted. Or are you forgetting that Larry Bird fathered a daughter in college and he basically has disowned her? But we never really have heard that from the Boston sports media because that was 20 years ago and Bird was so admired by all the Boston sports writers that they gave him a pass on it. Now we have TMZ and everyone thinks they know. You think it would be a free pass for Bird nowadays? Not likely. 3) The article was about Brady and his surgery. So stick to the point. And yeah, Kraft admires Brady. Look what he did for the franchise for god's sake. Wouldn't you admire that type of employee?
Regarding the personal lives of athletes: so long as they don't break the law, their life is their life. Period.
Get well TB, see you next year.
Hey silvercar GO slam your silvercar into a tree, At least TB is able to have a child and have several SB rings, I'm sure one ring is worth more than your Silvercar.. Tom Brady is one of the greatest athletes, and thats coming from a die-hard Colts Fans. Go F^%@ yourself, you small minded prick.
Best Wishes to Tom......
The Colts are lucky to have you #1 Colts Fan! A level-headed person that loves his team but can acknowledge the success of another great QB besides his own. Silvercardriver, as so many others have pointed out, you have no idea what is going on in Tom Brady's personal life, nor do I. But from what I've seen from him with regard to his work ethic, the way he has handled himself as the QB of the Patriots both on and off the field, and the financial sacrifices he has made for his team, there is NO WAY a person with his character would EVER be a deadbeat dad. GET REAL!!! Get well soon Tom, we miss you and can't wait for your return!!!
