Every Tuesday on Boston.com, questions from Patriots fans are answered in a weekly mailbag. This week's mailbag has been posted and includes some of the following topics:

  • Why have the Patriots been so up and down this season?

  • Is it time to pull the plug on Matt Cassel?

  • Might the Patriots make a trade before today's deadline?

  • Why is the Patriots' defense struggling so much and why can't they get more pressure?

  • Where has the impact of assistant coach Dom Capers been?

  • Why don't the Patriots wear their throwback uniforms?

    1. It's obvious that the Pats, after a long and bountiful diet of success, have lost their hunger. Without Brady to set the standard, the veterans seem incapable of rising to the level of intensity needed to win consistently in the NFL. And who can blame them? After all these years on top, they are emotionally spent. It is time for a makeover while Brady still has 5-7 productive years left. Let's declare 2009 a rebuilding year and focus on developing the next generation of players, mistakes and all.

    1. Mike,
I'm all for petitioning the Pats to go back to the old uni. What do we need to do to make this happen?
