Practice report
SAN JOSE, Calif. -- The Patriots are practicing at San Jose State University today as they prepare for Sunday's game against the San Diego Chargers.
Most of the Patriots players seemed to be excited about the set-up for this week, which has the team staying on the West Coast. Patriots coach Bill Belichick also said the arrangement has been beneficial so far.
"Definitely, we got a good night's sleep on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, so that was good," said Belichick. "It felt better than flying all the way back there and trying to get up and watch film Monday with one eye open and try to get it for Tuesday, just feeling like you're behind all week. I don't feel like we're behind at all."
The Patriots were missing three players during the media portion of the full-pads practice -- running back LaMont Jordan (right leg), wide receiver Kelly Washington (right ankle) and linebacker Eric Alexander (hamstring).
Jordan left Sunday's win in San Francisco during the second quarter after a 1-yard carry.
Cornerback Lewis Sanders, who did not play against the 49ers on Sunday and didn't practice all last week due to a hamstring injury, returned to practice.
Quarterback Matt Gutierrez, practice squad running back BenJarvus Green-Ellis and rookie outside linebacker Shawn Crable were all wearing black jerseys as the team's Practice Players of the Week leading up to the San Francisco game.

BenJarvus Green-Ellis seems to be getting the practice player of the week alot lately any chance he gets a step up later on in the year if maroney keeps sliding? i would say no but my level with maroney as been at a new high lately lol either way thats good for him maybe we will see more of him next year
I hope they keep BJ GE around, I was at the Pats Giants preseason game and I saw him get a lot of time -- he looked great, at least against the Giants backups. But he's definitely fast, really shifty in traffic, hard to get a solid hit on him. He was like a mini-Faulk. AND HE ALWAYS KEEPS MOVING FORWARD UNLIKE SOME RBs. I like Maroney but I'm officially sick of how he runs.
