Since the Patriots will play the Niners on Sunday, they're flying to the San Francisco today. Pretty pedestrian stuff.

What's different is that the Patriots will stay there for more than a week, moving their entire operation to the Bay Area as they prepare to play the Chargers on Sunday, Oct. 12. In the video below, Chris Gasper analyzes some of the challenges that lie ahead for the road-warrior Patriots (there is also a written summary below).

Written summary:

  • By staying on the West Coast, the Patriots face some unique challenges in moving their entire football operation.
  • Players are comparing the trip to the Super Bowl, when they are in another city for a week.
  • The bottom line, players say, is that they must handle this as professionals.
  • If things go well this time around, the team could do the same thing in December with back-to-back games at Seattle (Dec. 7) and Oakland (Dec. 14).

    1. Chris or Mike, when the team is out on the west coast do they have access to a stadium or field for practice and drills? Or do they practice all their plays in the hotel ballroom.
