Patriots quarterback Tom Brady made an unannounced appearance this afternoon with girlfriend Gisele Bundchen to serve dinner at the annual Goodwill Thanksgiving dinner in Roxbury.

From WCVB (Ch. 5):

“I am doing well. It’s good to be out here today and serve all these wonderful people and sign some autographs,” Brady told NewsCenter 5.

Brady appeared to be walking easily without a limp, as he moved through the crowd that gathered around him.

“I am thankful to be here in Boston. It’s my favorite holiday,” he said.

The Globe's Mark Shanahan adds:

Tom Brady and his supermodel sweetheart Gisele Bundchen surprised everyone at today's annual Thanks-for-giving meal organized by Goodwill Industries at its Roxbury headquarters. Walking without a limp, the Pats QB upstaged a slew of pols who were present, including Senate President Therese Murray, House Speaker Sal DiMasi, Attorney General Martha Coakley, Environmental Affairs Secretary Ian Bowles, embattled City Councilor Chuck Turner, and Hizzoner Tom Menino, who tried without success to coax No. 12 to the microphone. Bundchen arrived first, and quickly put on an apron and got down to work dishing out stuffing, mashed potatoes, and squash. (We spied the ever-slender siren sneak one bean.) Brady showed up as the tables were being cleared, and was greeted by Bundchen with a kiss on the cheek. Later, Brady signed a few autographs while Gi, who seemed to be genuinely enjoying herself, chatted with folks and moved to the music playing in the background.

  1. Great to see Tom Brady back in Boston and helping out the less fortunate this time of year. And, of course, he takes the time to sign autographs.

    CLASS ACT

  1. Well, who's walking Gisele's dog, then ??

  1. I'm never impressed with anything that these two do because Kraft requires charity work in the contracts and if it's not that, it's staged PR to improve their image. This is not the real Tom Brady. I notice Will behind the scenes choregraphing everything for the maximum exposure. Go Matt!

  1. Mike, or anyone who knows,

Typically how long will it take before he can really test out his knee and start doing some heavy weight room work (Squats, leg press, dead lifts etc) as opposed to just rehabilitation (flexibility, range of motion etc) type of work?

Because he looks like hes lost a good amount of weight and probably strength as well.

  1. Tom and Giselle are great for helping out. Kudos to the superhot couple!

  1. Tom looks a little frail.

  1. What name brand hat is Tom wearing here?

  1. Tom Brady is a good man. He's been given many gifts; including brains, athleticism, determnation and humility. Generosity of spirit is not always a given .. but it is the hallmark of a thankful person. Have the best Thanksgiving ever, Tom and Giselle!

  1. Funny, I don't remember Manny dishing out Thanksgiving dinners?
Oh thats right-, we're talking Class Act vs Class Clown.

  1. Now everyone shut up about Cassel! Tom will be fine!

Let Cassel go make his money, he deserves to be a starter in this league.

I just hope its not for an AFC East team!

  1. Wow. For the last month i've been entertaining the thought of Cassel taking over next year. He's been playing real well, and tommys not here, and his condition next year is unknown... but just him being around, helping out ("without a limp" no less), smiling his shy-akward smile, you just know who is the right QB for this team. He is, and always will be, IRREPLACEABLE

  1. ...And walking without a limp! that's very encouraging. I agree with Blair; a class act.

  1. Agree with Blair...CLASSY MOVE TOM. Of course that Chuck Turner was there as well. He probably hid some turkey in his jacket on the way out the door.

  1. Gisele chose the hat.

  1. All you people with negative comments are losers. This guy doesn't have to be doing this. He could be home playing Xbox or vacationing in St. Barts. How many of you went out and did community service today? Good for you Tom. Your a class act.

  1. What name brand hat is Tom wearing here?

    Posted by jendog35holla November 26, 08 04:34 PM
  1. I totally agree that the negative comments show a real lack of class. Tom Brady has done nothing but positive things for the Patriots and the Patriot fan. We would not have won three Superbowls without him. His private life is just that. It is private.

  1. Um, I believe the article called it an "unannounced move", so let's not presume to judge their motives. Everything they do is going to be covered by the media anyway, so it's nearly impossible for them to do charity work without getting coverage. If they only do charity work to enhance their PR, it makes you wonder why Barry Bonds hasn't taken up this sort of thing.

  1. agree w/ you peter...tom is leading, as usual, by example, on and off the field. class act!

  1. That lid is worn typically by those who smoke the chronic. gisele is some nice T&A for a phoney baloney super model. maybee brady's knee infection has spread up to his groin. Only a Turducken for Tom and Gisele.

  1. I miss Tom.

  1. Hey silvercardriver go back to your Bridget splashnews blog & stop bashing Tom Brady. You do not care on bit about Cassel or the Patriots.. You Just want to hurt Brady because he is not with Bridget. You are trying to get him traded because you hate him ..it has nothing to do with Football at all.

Posted by Mary Knadler November 26, 08 05:15 PM
  1. I hope he dumps her, it seems like bothing but bad things have happened to him since he started dating her. He needs to be with Bridget and his son and be a family. I miss seeing Tom on the field.

  1. sure makes this yankee in NC feel lot better...lot of Pats haters here...showing his concern for the less fortunate says it all...GO PATS

  1. the hat is a Kangol

  1. The Plastic Banana and the Phoney Baloney make an unannounced appearance to help the poor at a local food bank -- which just so happens to have all of Boston's media recording every minute.

    Pravda would be proud.

  1. who cares about his hat. he looks like a retard. a retard who gets to go home ridiculously good looking women.

Posted by ian November 26, 08 08:39 PM
  1. He should be back home, serving turkey dinner to the homeless in the Mission -- and playing for the 'Niners!

Tom, the ghost of Bill Walsh is calling!

Seriously, we don't know what Tom Brady's gonna come back next year, but it might be a rejuvenated ,one if he were both to play for his first love, and to try filling Joe's cleats (still the greatest of all time, IMHO, of course). Montana just made things happen: if you didn't see it, you wouldn't have believed it. And Brady knows this:)

  1. Makes me smile....Life without Tom Brady will be over soon.
    In the meantime, Go Cassel!!

Posted by floyd November 26, 08 10:45 PM
  1. People please! He's JUST a football player!
Lay off! If your sense of self-worth is so wrapped up in the Patriots, then you need to re-evaluate your priorities, in my opinion.

Get over it, and go do something that makes your own life, or someone else's better.

    Silly haters.

  1. silvercardriver, I Disagree With You. You Need To Grow Up. No Insult Tom Brady. I Know Matt Cassel Was Doing A Great Job, And Great Player. But Tom Brady and Matt Cassel Did A Great Job Same Both Of Them. Matt C. Did Learning From Tom Brady A Lot. That's Why I Love Both Of Them. I Respect On Them. This Period.
You Can Not Pitty Tom Brady. You Think Matt Cassell Better Than Tom Brady. There Is Nothing To Do. Matt/Tom Are Doing The Best Players This End Of Story.

Hey Tom Brady, I'm So Glad You Did Well. Hurray.. I'm So Happy To See You Smile. With You Girlfriend Giselle So Amazing. Hurray.. Hugz Both Of You. You Make Me A Smile. :)

  1. So fun to listen to jealous couch want-a-bees judge some guy that has done nothing but give his best to New England. Tom Brady will go down as one of the best quarterbacks ever in the NFL, plain and simple. When Cassel accomplishes something, we can talk about him. I am glad he is doing well.

    Posted by Bosceltic33 November 27, 08 09:38 AM
  1. It's sad that Brady made it less about the guests and all about him. If Brady were any kind of person, he would have not even bothered making a speech. Put the focus on where it should have been - the guests. It took away from the purpose of the meal. This was nothing more than PR stunt on Brady's part. And a bad one at that. How sad that he would use a charity event to get publicity.

Posted by Bradyissad November 27, 08 10:10 AM
  1. message 37??? Did you read the story? It says he didn't accept the microphone for a speech, you moron...ooops, that's right - you probably can't read.
Brady will start for NE next year & Matt will still be the back-up. Both would be foolish to change that. Brady knows he's got the job locked-up & Matt knows what being the back-up is all about.
Kraft will probably give Cassell a nice contract after this year, especially not knowing the full extent of Tom's recovery.
Why would Matt forfeit what he's earned & got for a few more bux (or maybe even the same) and need to start from scratch with another team?
He knows his spot here and will hopefully earn a nice living "just being ready" - in case he's needed again. After all - he's still learning & that's got to be pleasant, when you're being educated by the BEST!

  1. I will always love Tom Brady. Matt is doing good but my heart belongs to tom. I hate watching the games and #12 is not one field. This season sucks and Tom Brady is so missed. Go Pats. Love you Tom.

  1. It was very nice of tom and Gisele to have gone to help out at the dinner. My husband had the same surgery. It's good to see him up and about. It has been along time, glad to see him out in public. Good luck to him and to her it's along process.Matt C is doing great for a kid who has'nt played in along time. Go Pat's !
