Coin toss correction

Posted by Mike Reiss, Globe Staff November 24, 2008 11:27 AM

At the Patriots-Dolphins game, it was reported here that the Patriots won the opening toss and took the ball.

I mis-heard referee Al Riveron's explanation, and in fact, the Dolphins had won the toss and elected to defer.

So Sunday's win marked the Patriots' victory of the season when losing the coin toss. They are 1-4 when losing the toss.

The Patriots are 6-0 when winning the toss.

  1. Channeling Roger Clemens. Who else uses the term "mis-heard"?

  1. It probably had something to do with the officiating crew. That rookie crew was really pretty bad. I think that’s why the Pat’s had so many penalties and the game almost got out of control at the end.
