Madden likes Pats vs. Jets

Posted by Mike Reiss, Globe Staff November 12, 2008 01:40 PM

NBC football analyst John Madden took part in a conference call this afternoon, and he was asked how he envisions tomorrow night's game between the Patriots and Jets unfolding:

"I think it's going to be a heck of a game, and it was one that you didn't see coming," Madden responded. "If you would have asked me this before the season, I would have said it's another 'same old thing' -- Patriots vs. Jets, Mangini/Belichick, Spygate -- and then lo and behold [Tom] Brady goes down, the Jets get Brett Favre and the whole thing changes.

"Now, having said that, I still believe that the Patriots have the Jets' number. I really do. If you had to say 'who do you think is going to win?', I think it's going to be a good game and it will be pretty close, but I think the Patriots will beat them."

  1. I wish Patriots still had brady, it would make the win for the Gang Green all that more enjoyable....but hey it will still be fun to watch an elite defense kick the crap out of a highschool quarterback.

  1. This game will not even be close, IF McDaniels has grown up .....

And Favre will marry the Gillette turf, in fact, this might be his last game ....for the season if they really want to get to him. No soft defense with Favre or he will pick our weak corners apart. Blitzes, including safety blitzes by Sanders or Merriweather, preferable Merriweather.

  1. I can't believe Madden picked against Brett Favre. Favre must have refused delivery on the roses Madden sent.

  1. If the Jets play their cards right, I expect that Gholston may get a tackle.
Gholston at pick no. 6 for $50 million over five years!
Mayo at pick no. 10 for $18 million over five years!
How many tackles does Gholston have so far?
