Mangini on Law
FOXBOROUGH -- Tuesday is usually an off day, but with the Patriots and Jets playing on Thursday night, both clubs are working today. Jets coach Eric Mangini held a conference call with members of the New England media this morning (10:35 a.m.) and he was asked about his team signing Ty Law.
"With my experience with Ty, spending five years with him, coaching him every day, the one thing that I like about making this move is the versatility he gives us," Mangini said. "He's played inside at the 'star' position some, he's played outside both left and right, he's worked a little bit at safety. He's got a lot of experience obviously playing but he also has a lot of experience playing in this system. I think what he does for us is add some versatility as to where we can place some of the other players. He gives us some good depth there as well."
Mangini was asked if it is realistic that Law will play Thursday night, as Law told Adam Schefter of NFL Network.
"I think we'll have to see how it goes, but I'd say there is definitely a shot," he said.

Law is a traitor. Although i still have his Jersey on my wall.
Hope they do play him and Moss lights him up... I'm talking an embarassed stare back at the sideline as Randy dances on the goal line.
Luc don't get your hopes up; Revis will have the assignment of Randy Moss. Thus, I highly doubt Moss will be doing any dancing on the goal line with the pro bowl season Revis is having. If you would like for your fantasy to play out, you can play a game of Madden 09, sign Law to the Jets and assign him to cover Moss.
Steven, you're a goon, the Jets are not really that good at all, the Pats will be in first place when it's all said and done. Who ever is covering Moss will get smoked, whether it's your boy Revis, or a washed up Ty Law.
I still like Ty Law. Hopefully someday he will retire a patriot.
James, I appreciate your "goon" comment. I was only trying to inform Luc of the Jets intentions as to the assignment of Randy Moss. I think you are wrong about Revis getting smoked by Randy Moss, lets face it, Matt Cassell is not Tom Brady when it comes to the deep ball, evident by the statistics through 9 games. So you should be hesitant to make such a sweeping statement. However, as a Jets fan, I am much more concerned with Wes Welker, due to the fact that Dwight Lowry seems to have been experiencing struggles as a rookie of late and the rapport Cassell has developed w/ Welker. Anyways, glad to see there is no love lost between the franchises, and since this is your forum, i will gladly concede the last word. Lets hope for an injury-free game and the better prepared team prevails.
I don't think you were only trying to inform him, you were being rather arogant for no appearent reason (the Jets haven't done anything since Broadway Joe), so I thought I'd back up a fellow Pats fan. Your main concern shouldn't be Wes Welker, but more like Brett Farve. I can see him throwing a few picks on Thursday to pad his stats as the career interceptions leader. Should be a good one...Pats 31- Jets 14
Steven John and other Jets fans out there.
Here's my top ten reasons the Jets go down like grandma on tequila.
10. The Pats will stop the run. That's what they usually do.
9. If Brett tries to take control of the game, he'll throw it to Ellis Hobbs more than their #3 receiver.
8. Ty Law was cut by the Chiefs. Ponder that for a moment.
7. Ponder it again.
6. Can you say BenJarvis Green-Ellis, ten times fast?
5. Now say BenJarvis Green-Ellis and Sammy Morris back in the rotation ten times fast.
4. Jerod Mayo has more tackles in 10 games than Gholston will get his first two years.
3. You can't double cover Moss and contain Welker.
2. Maybe Brett Farvre has more experience in the system now.
1. Then again, maybe Matt Cassell does too.
