INDIANAPOLIS -- The Globe's Mike Reiss sets the table for tonight's battle between the New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Written summary:

  • This is a beautiful facility, although the Colts don't have much of a home-field advantage. They're 1-2 at home.
  • Offensively, while some feel the best way to attack the Colts is on the ground, the feeling here is that the Patriots must do it through the air. That means the offensive line is key. Can they give Matt Cassel the time to get the ball to Randy Moss and Wes Welker?
  • Defensively, the Patriots played most of last year's game in a sub package (5 defensive backs), with Rodney Harrison in a linebacker-like role. With no Harrison, it will be interesting to see if Brandon Meriweather fills that role. Also, it could mean rookies Jonathan Wilhite and Terrence Wheatley, and 2007 sixth-round draft choice Mike Richardson, are called upon to do more.
