Every Tuesday, questions from Patriots fans are answered as part of a mailbag on Boston.com. This week's mailbag has been posted, and includes some of the following topics:
Vice President of Player Personnel Scott Pioli and the possibility that he leaves the Patriots.
Matt Cassel, his future, and how the Patriots might approach the situation.
What NFL commissioner Roger Goodell is saying about the league's playoff format.
The Patriots' 2009 opponents and why the team will once again be visiting the Colts.
A look at the tentative 2009 draft order, and why the Patriots are set to select behind playoff teams like the Chargers.
Mike, Chris et al,
Thanks for your efforts this season, you guys are the best in the business!
Mike,
You are the best! Thanks and have a great new year!
I meant to post this question in the mailbag....If Brady cannot play in '09 does his salary still count against the cap?
Mike, I know in baseball, insurance will pay a portion of a player's salary if they are out injured. Is is the same in football? Whereas, the Pats could recoup some of Brady's salary giving them a little more flexibility money-wise?
I'm pretty sure if Brady can't managed to take a snap this season, he will not be charged against the cap. The only reason he counted against the cap this season was because he started those 5 minutes in the first game of the season.
Go Fins!
MR your wrong. Sorry bro.
It's bad enough an 8-8 team makes the playoffs over an 11-5 team, but for the Pats to pick after the Chargers? I guess you can have your cake and eat it too.
