Offensive participation

A look at snaps played by skill-position players in the Patriots' 33-10 loss to the Steelers:

  • TE Benjamin Watson -- 65 of 67 snaps
  • WR Randy Moss -- 58 of 67
  • WR Jabar Gaffney -- 53 of 67
  • RB Kevin Faulk -- 38 of 67
  • WR Wes Welker -- 38 of 67
  • WR Sam Aiken -- 26 of 67
  • RB Sammy Morris -- 22 of 67
  • TE David Thomas -- 17 of 67
  • RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis -- 7 of 67
  • WR Matthew Slater -- 7 of 67
  • FB Heath Evans -- 2 of 67
  • TE Mike Vrabel -- 1 of 67

(snaps include an ineligible downfield penalty on Logan Mankins, a defensive pass interference penalty, and a defensive holding penalty)

ANALYSIS: RB Kevin Faulk might be considered a change-of-pace back to some, but his play-time percentage indicates otherwise, as he's been on the field for 47 percent of the team's snaps this season. That's more than any back on the team. The last six games, Faulk's play-time percentage has been 71, 49, 50, 82, 53 and 57. ... TE Benjamin Watson only came off the field twice, on the times the Patriots went to a 4 WR package. ... WR Sam Aiken's 26 snaps were a season-high, as he saw extended action when WR Wes Welker was sidelined. ... RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis's 7 snaps all came on the final drive of the game. ... Ditto for WR Matthew Slater. ... FB Heath Evans' 2 snaps, which came on the Sammy Morris TD run and a Sammy Morris 2-yard run on fourth-and-1, were a season-low as the Patriots didn't utilize two-back sets.

    1. Who is this "Ben Watson" gentleman you speak of? Never heard of him. Is he on the Patriots?
