Offensive tackles in focus

Posted by Mike Reiss, Globe Staff December 17, 2008 01:10 PM

FOXBOROUGH -- The Patriots are holding their afternoon practice inside Gillette Stadium -- giving them a good feel for some nasty elements (it's raining and cold) -- and depth at offensive tackle looks to be a top issue today.

Starting left tackle Matt Light was not spotted at the media-access portion of today's practice. Light left Sunday's 49-26 win over the Raiders with a right shoulder injury and did not return.

Mark LeVoir is the top backup, followed by Wesley Britt.

In addition to Light, linebacker Tedy Bruschi and safety James Sanders were the other players not spotted during stretching and one set of individual drills (for a brief moment, it was initially posted that Mark LeVoir was not present, but that has been corrected).

Tight end David Thomas, defensive end Le Kevin Smith, and practice squad players Mark Dillard (safety) and Titus Adams (defensive line) wore black jerseys as the practice players of the week. The practice players of the week are picked by the coaching staff as having best prepared the team in the days leading up to a victory.

  1. I really hope he can play this Sunday. He has been great in pass protection except against Shittsburgh.

He also has been a great run blocker this year and gets to the perimeter quickly when the quick screens are run to his side.

    We need him badly ....

  1. Even a mild separated shoulder could mean a few weeks recovery. Look up the avg recovery time on google. Says 1-2 months. But then again, these guys have the best physical therapists and doctors I'm sure.

  1. Sean,
According to some reports Light has the same injury as Wilfork and he played the next game after sustaining his injury.
