Patriots left tackle Matt Light would prefer to be playing in the Super Bowl, but he’ll still have a presence on Feb. 1. He’ll be part of a Super Bowl SoBe Life Water commercial alongside Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis and Giants defensive lineman Justin Tuck.

“When I was asked if I was interested, the first thing I thought of was the spot they did last year with Naomi Campbell and she was dancing to ‘Thriller’ with lizards and all that,” Light said in a phone interview Wednesday. “So my first thought was 'I don’t think I’m the right guy for this spot.'”

Yet Light kept listening to the sales pitch.

“Then I was informed that I’d be wearing a leotard and dancing with Justin Tuck and Ray Lewis, with the lizards, aliens and monsters,” Light said.

With that information and his sense of humor, Light decided he was the right man for the job.

The commercial was shot in early November in New York, and Light said: "Those two guys were a riot. They were great to work with. It was a work day, and it was a lot to get all that shot in one day, but we had a lot of fun doing it. It’s a heck of a funny spot."

The commercial is scheduled to run at the end of the second quarter and Light touts it as the first Super Bowl commercial that is in both high definition and 3-D.

“You'll get to see yours truly, wearing a leotard, in 3-D -- if that doesn't get you excited, I don't know what will,” Light cracked, realizing that this could come back to haunt him with his teammates. “I think there is going be enough in one of these spots for the guys in the locker room for quite some time.”

Here is a look at last year's SoBe Thriller-themed commercial.

  1. Ahh now I get it. Matt was actually at home watching the super bowl - he certainly was not in the game blocking

  1. Very intelligent BG. Ha ha. Haven't you found another bandwagon to jump on? The Cardinals are looking very sexy and no one can beat Fitzgerald...

  1. Justin Tuck and Light in the same commercial? Didn't Light get owned by Tuck which cost the Pats the Superbowl? I guess he has a short memory. I don't think you'd ever see Belichick and Dungy in the same commercial.

  1. I'm wondering what the heck those lizards are wearing. Is that supposed to be pads and a jock .... or a bikini?

  1. What's wrong with you people? It's a freakin commercial! By the way,,,Justin Tuck and Matt Light probably don't hate each other. It's the fans of the Pats and the Giants that hate the other team, the players get over it,,,we don't!

Based on that,,,I love how Matt Light gets beat in the superbowl, and to Giants fans, that negates his entire career,,,,idiots!

  1. I absolutely LOVED this commercial. The best SuperBowl ad, in my opinion.

  1. I am with Theresa, great commercial one of the best along with the Budweiser one. Lizards and horses, what does that say about the other commercials that were not that memorable and cost millions! Great thing about sports and athletes, they don't hold grudges, fans do. When the season starts I would expect him to hate the Giants and Ray to hate the Steelers.
