Summer & fall planning

A look at some key dates for the 2009 season for late summer and early fall:

  • Late July -- training camps open (exact date TBA)
  • Aug. 13-17 -- First preseason weekend
  • Aug. 20-24 -- Second preseason weekend
  • Aug. 27-21 -- Third preseason weekend
  • Sept. 1 -- Roster cutdown to maximum of 75 players
  • Sept. 3-4 -- Fourth preseason weekend
  • Sept. 5 -- Roster cutdown to maximum of 53 players
  • Sept. 10-14 -- Kickoff 2009 weekend

    Given the way the calendar falls this year, it is a later start than previous years. The Patriots' 2008 season began Sept. 7.

      Whenever you had time I'd be interested to see the offseason calendar dates as well. Meaning free agency, the draft, trades, etc.
