Tom Brady on ET

Posted by Mike Reiss, Globe Staff January 29, 2009 09:35 PM

Entertainment Tonight posted a video on its website tonight (embedded above) with Patriots QB Tom Brady, which is tied to Brady's promotion of SmartWater.

The online video clip does not include some other comments from Brady that appeared on TV tonight.

"I know I want to play for a long time," Brady was quoted as saying on the TV program. "I have goals, like, until I'm 40."

Brady turns 32 in August.

  1. I would like to make 14 million a year till 40 years old too! Why stop there. Brady should play until he's 50.

  1. Why is a football player on ET? ET isn't interviewing him for his insight into artificially sweetened water. He seems to be promoting his image as a celebrity so I hope he doesn't get mad when paparazzi are following him.

  1. Well, he is correct, SmartWater is the best water on the market health wise. Loaded with electrolytes and it taste like regular water.

  1. Brady looks great! His knee looked pretty flexible when he was lifting that medicine ball and that's a good sign for the Pats in 2009! Keep up the good work Tom!

  1. how about appearing in new england, or maybe at gillette?

your antics are starting to wear thin...

  1. Oh please enough with the Brady worship. Fact is, nobody knows what to expect from Hollywood Tom. Seems like he's much more interested in his Hollywood lifestyle than working out with the Pats.
Where's the interview with the Globe? And not the gossip pages but the sports page.
If he's not ready to go come training camp, Bill B. should treat Brady like Bledsoe and go with Matt. Why do my fellow Pats fans give this guy a free pass? It's pitiful how fans are duped by his phony smile. I'm sick of his act. He should be working out wtih Welker and Moss.

  1. ELECTROLYTES! IDIOCRACY!
Get a clue Patrick, you get plenty of electrolytes in your diet already, you don't need it in your water.

  1. Brady playing till 40! I like it. Tom at 40 would only be 3 years older than 'Tek is
now. Send the trophies out for engraving!!!

  1. It would be different if the paparazzi was reporting on how he is working out and how his knee is getting better. Instead they are coming down on him for taking a weekend off, like everyone else in the country doesnt have two days off to relax or do what they want to do in their free time. Its been reported that he is already starting to throw footballs, that had to take some hard work on his part to get that far this fast.

  1. give the guy a break. he'll shut up the haters next season.

  1. I guess the old adage "What have you done for me lately" is alive and well with some in Patriots nation. The guy only quarterbacked teams that delivered 3 Super bowl championships to New England and has consistently proven himself to be the consummate team player. Yet now that he is starting to explore other venues, as is his right, all of a sudden he is public enemy #1. Unless some of you have inside info on how much time Tom spends rehabbing then don't assume. He knows what he needs to do and since I can't recall Tom ever coming into a season unprepared, I'm going to bet he will be ready as long as his knee continues to respond well to the rehabbing. Give the guy a break and let him live his life!!

  1. Hey Joe B.........your fellow Pats fans give Brady a free pass because he has led them to 4 Superbowls and winning 3 of them. Where's the Globe you ask? Some of the negative Boston sports writers don't deserve a story coming from his mouth. Too bad he has to resort to a radio program to your neighbouring country that borders you to the north. Canadians knew how he was doing before you did. Tom will be back to wreck havoc on the NFL next year. I hope Cassel likes holding that clip board because he couldn't hold Brady's jock.

  1. Brady has typically avoided any high profile endorsements (unlike Peyton Manning who's football salary is probably 1/1000th of his income). So the fact that he is promoting this SmartWater at such a tough time in his career, must mean one thing...SmartWater backed up the Brinks Truck to his house!

Posted by CHOMP! January 30, 09 03:00 PM
  1. They should call it IdiotWater. I can see why Brady would hawk it, as they are probably paying him millions to do so, but Patrick you are a fool.

  1. Some of you guys are tools. He's an athlete who has an endorsements. Those endorsements require him to do interviews. No Patriot is working out right now, they won't until March, my guess is he'll be there.. Why do people care if he's doing interviews for the globe. It's not like he gives much info anyway. It;s the same story every year. as for the pics with Giselle, he doesn't seek it out, it's who he dates. Who gives a crap, as long as he's working his best in june, july i'm a happy camper. It's the New England fans that have gone soft.. No one gave a crap when Bird disappeared in the off season.

  1. How quickly we forget who the best QB in the world was only 12 months ago....not to mention him being in his prime. I sometimes wonder if these clowns are actually serious when they criticize him. You people were the same ones all over his junk last year when he broke all the records....nothing I hate worse than a frontrunner...and ANY Patriot fan who would question this guy is exactly that....a frontrunner.

Posted by steven January 30, 09 03:35 PM
  1. Brent,
I've always been a Brady supporter.
I wish I had the ability to see the future like you. I hope I'm wrong and you're right. Sorry, but past performance does not give you a free pass. You can't just roll out of your girlfriend's bed and be Tom Brady of 2007.
I just want to see effort. I'm sure his team mates want to see him more at Gillette staduim than Hollywood. It's not asking too much to let Pats fans know if you can play in Game 1 in 2009.

  1. AT, you couldn't have said this any better. Is he not allowed to have a life?? Since when does being a quarterback for the Pats mean you have to tell the fans what you do every minute of every day? The only time I'm concerned about Brady is when he's on the field. What he does with Giselle, his son or ET on his own time is his business not ours! He's not shooting himself in the leg in clubs or trying to take out his kids’ mother to avoid child support, LEAVE THE GUY ALONE and let him live his life. When was the last time we had a QB do what Tom has done??? Anyone?? Anyone??

Posted by fj January 30, 09 03:59 PM
  1. Please. Best QB in football. It's a good thing these bulletin boards weren't around when Ted Williams, Bill Russell, Bobby Orr, or Larry Bird played. Would you have run them out of town?????????

    Posted by Otto1 January 30, 09 03:59 PM
  1. Why is an opinion hate or frontrunning? The Pats have decisions to make with Cassel. I would not want to make that call.
No Patriot is working out now, because they played a complete season. Most players that rehab are working out to get into football shape. but I guess Tom doesn't have to.
If any of us fans could predict Brady comes back as his old self, we would be working in the front office. Again maybe Tom is above that. I hope so. The Pats can't hope they need to know..

  1. what exactly does Tom owe any of you losers? You want him to work out in this crap state of Mass instead of spending his free time working out in warm weather states (like every athlete) and now he is wearing thin on your nerves? Get a life! So he is in the spotlight and does commercials??? Who cares?

He only owes you what his paycheck says he owes you, 60 minutes of football on Sundays. Beyond that, get your own life and stop worrrying about his. You have the best QB in the history of football and you treat him like crap after one injured season. No wonder the country hates Boston fans. Do yourself a favor a stop trying to run this guy out of town. He is the BEST thing that ever happened to Boston. Period.

  1. I'm a die-hard Tom Brady fan and I think it's ridiculous how selfish some of you really are.

You see a 3-minute clip into 24 hours of his life. For all you know, he could have been rehabbing right before he went for this taping.

As a professional athlete in Boston, he owes you effort, hard work and preparation. When has ANY Patriots fan EVER questioned any of those three attributes in regards to TOM BRADY?

  1. Youngest guy to win 3 Superbowls. If he wants to pitch water, so be it.

Better that than a QB who pitches Campbells soup but can't win bupkiss!

Posted by Bubba January 30, 09 07:17 PM
  1. Stop hating on Tom Brady. None of us are with him to know how much he works out and all of that. You guys are acting as if it's time for camp, the superbowl isn't even here yet. He doesn't need to go to far beyond rehab to soon and risk straining that knee. And as I recall the players were just talking about how much of an insperation it was to see him in the locker room, so what do some of you mean by saying he is always in Hollywood, what are you stalking him or something. The man still has a record of 101-27 3sb rings, 5 Afc title games, 6 playoffs out of 7, I mean this is TomBrady. The guy loves football and I can gurantee you that he will prove that he is Tom Brady like he had to prove it back when he was a backup. This is the same guy that just a few years ago had no timeouts but drove down the field to beat the then undefeatable Rams, and he's done it every year since. He might start off slow like Peyton did in 08, but he will get back in the feel of it, that knee will heal up, and he will prove that he is what he is.

  1. This isn't official yet, but there are rumors that SportWater actually has a secret ingredient. Yup, that's right. Each bottle of water contains a trace amount of Brady ball sweat. After each of his workouts they wring out his sweat-soaked drawers and collect the liquid in a jar. Then they take it directly to the SportWater facility where they add approximately 5 ml of ball sweat to each bottle of water. Trust me, this is no joke. If you try the product you can really taste the salty goodness. Since Brady would never consent to likes of us rabble drinking his ball sweat directly, this is a way for everyone to get in on the action. Mmmmmmm good!

  1. Wow - you members of Patriots Nation should be ashamed of yourselves for turning your back on the player that made the Patriots dynasty of this decade. Tom Brady get injured playing the game (unlike the bum Big Ben for riding a motorcycle w/out a hemlet) and you start turning your back on him. If he wants to make out with a super model, who cares. If he wants to do interviews on SmartWater while he is recovering, who cares. He has brought more joy to Patriots nation than any other other individual other than maybe Bill.

Screw you fair weather - what have you done for me lately - fans!

Now he is hollywood trash. Give me the younger down to earth Cassel who is ready for the next step to greatness. Cassel is also a great guy who comes off as just another average joe. gee wasn't brady like that once.

  1. Trade Brady keep Matt.

Since Brady and the Coach started running with the broads and appearing on Letterman and The Tonight Show show they have not won a thing.

Don't forget Tommy boy was front and center in the greatest all time choke in sports history, the Super Bowl loss to the Giants.

The Pats have become a shell of what they once were, right down to the stupid 16-0 banner they hung up this year, something the Bruins would do.

Brady has a life away from work just like all of us. He knows his job and also knows what he needs to do for conditioning his body in order to be prepared for his next season. He is a diehard athelete and that has been his focus his entire life. No doubt he will be ready for next season to give it his all.
Now that he has had one season off due to injury all the fair weather bandwagon fans can now fall off. We don't need you any longer. Guys like Joe B sound like a bunch of turn coats.
prove em wrong Tom and go win another S.B. for N.E.

Last time I checked, he was still dating Gisel and doing model shoots whenhe broke the single season record for TD passes last year.......Where were all of you front runnng fair weather fans then? Oh thats right, you were getting your knees dirty for Brady...now he gets hurt, you turn your back. Now I know what you guys are like.....you are like that girl in high school who dated the quarterback until he got hurt, then you ended up naked in the backseat of the new QB's car.

Posted by steven January 31, 09 08:01 AM
  1. Trade Brady. He's done great things with a great team. Brady needs near perfect protection and is very immobile, injury or not. Blind side protection is average at best in big games, and will get him hurt again. Any body watch the super bowl last year?
Cassel brings a new dimension with his running ability, and has just as much savvy as Brady. Cassel dismantled Arizona. Cassel is proven now and is known healthy. Don't be shocked by what could happen.

This bozo is no different than any of the rest of them. If he can make more money somewhere else he'll be gone in a flash. Then let's see what all theTommy lovers will have to say then.

  1. Some of you people that post on this site are total idiots. Unless you are following Brady around everyday how would you know what his work ethic is like? Most people are jumping on the Matt Cassell bandwagon too fast (anyone hear of Derek Anderson?). Matt is a good quarterback but until he turns in great performance after great performance he's not Tom Brady. If you look at Cassell's record against the "Good" teams in the league this year they are poor. That where the difference is between Brady and Cassell. Tom almost always plays well against the very good teams in the league. Most of you just want to be updated of Tom's pregress everyday. Would you like to update us on your life everyday? Doubt it. Grow up!

  1. Unbelievable - You foolish idiots that want Cassel can have Cassel, just make sure you stay with Cassel. I live in Tennesee where Pay-me Manning is the 2nd coming. I spend more than 50% of my life detailing Brady's career and how he is undoubtedly better than Pay-me. Facts can't be argued with and the facts on Brady are that his accomplishments prove he is a great competitor and he is a great team player. Take Cassel, he's not good yet but he had a good season against a weak schedule. I don't remember him beating the weaker Colts team, didn't beat the Steelers, didn't beat the Chargers. Plus he had Moss and Welker. Brady won 3 rings with you and 2 of your fat buddies from the bar at wide receiver. Cassel is fools gold at this point. If his body is capable, Brady will be ready and when he is back on top make sure you are wearing your Cassel jersey - FOOL! Unreal, all Brady does is win, take less money, make his team better, and always act like a decent human being. Yet, this isn't good enough. Yeah, you need to take Cassel, in fact start pulling for the suckers that trade for him instead of the 'Triots and Tom.

    --------
I'd bet my salary that the front office knows exactly how his rehab is going. I'd bet double my salary that it's been quite intentional that the Patriots and Brady have been keeping things quiet. Just because Brady's rehab doesn't make the news every damn day of your pathetic lives doesn't mean it's not progressing. Boston media has been getting worse and worse. I sure wouldn't give them any info.

I live in the Boston area & NO ONE trashes Brady around these parts. I'm more inclined to believe that they are just Brady haters trying to make us Boston fans look like jerks because they are jealous from all the success we enjoy around these parts now a days. And what the hell is this that he's never around Gillette? For months all I would read about was reports talking about how he was at Gillette everyday rehabbing his knee & working out in the gym with his teammates. After the Steelers game earlier in the season I read an article where Matthew Slater talked about the fumbled kick returns he had in the Steelers redzone & how down on himself he felt until Brady surprised him & talked to him & cheered him up. Honestly... people just get down on Brady because he is the best ever at what he does & that puts a HUGE magnifying glass on you. It's amazing... the guy smiles & it's because he's arrogant. Maybe some of you should try to smile a little more... maybe it would cheer you up.

This is what happens with "pink hats"....its what have you done for me lately. Anyone who has ever played the game further than pop warner wouldn't even think of replacing Brady with Cassel....clearly people dont know the game.
Everyone says how Gisel has made him soft......soft enough to break the NFL record for touch downs in a single season? He was seriously dating her at the time he broke all the records.
Brutus....your comment truely shows how ignorant you really are. Brady took less than market value to stay in New England and be less of a salary cap hit. Do your homework son, at the time he re-negotiated his contract he was considered by most to be in hitting his prime, and the best QB in the game, and yet he was the 5th highest paid QB when he signed....now his salary is even lower......much lower than Eli sigend for.....haha enough said. No one is crying about him being hurt, or being "picked on" we are simply finding it funny how the same people who got their knees dirty for this guy two years ago, throw him under the bus as soon as they dont hear from him....the short-sightedness is so childish. And Brutus, this isnt the romper room blog.....boo boo? mommy? bozo? the name Brutus? where is Pop-eye? arggg gah gah gah gah......grow up son.

I support alot of theses comment about him not being on the sidelines during the season, having the surgery were the patriots medical recommended, not being team oriented during the healing of his injury. It plan to see that Boston fans are on the back burner! Why make all these statement on major network like ET and Canadian Radio shows. Stay in touch with your fans is ehat i'm trying to say, not the whole USA.

Words of a wise man. OK all you you stupid people saying he is done and sold out because he is trying to get publicity for once....really what do you want. Its rehab, he can't spend every minute of every day working out. He has to start small until they clear him for more. (or risk him damaging his knee and permanently be done) NOBODY has done what he has done. 3 Super Bowl rings, undefeated season, 50 TD passes in a season, and helped with the highest scoring team record too. If aren't grateful for that then how about you look at the ad there. He's working out and doing an ad....

Watching New England win most games was quite thrilling the talent and teamwork that was shown by the Patriots really set them apart from the others. Seriously if you don’t think that Tom Brady’s talent as a football player (quarterback) isn’t of something great then I feel sorry for you.
