Honor for Andre Tippett
Pro Football Hall of Fame linebacker Andre Tippett will be inducted into the National Jewish Sports Hall of Fame in April. As the New Jersey Jewish News reports, Tippett is one of seven members of the Class of 2009.
The Class of 2009 includes:

I don't mean to sound ignorant, but is Tippett Jewish? This quote from the article makes it sound like you need to be ...
“Our inductees and honorees truly exemplify what the National Jewish Sports Hall of Fame is all about,” said Lynne Kramer, chair of the Hall of Fame, in a statement. “In their own way, each one of them have overcome adversities, challenged stereotypes, and blazed a trail for others to follow. We hope by honoring these Jewish men and women for their accomplishments we can show young Jews that there are no limits for them.”
He actually converted to Judaism some time ago.
He coverted to Judaism because his wife is Jewish. I read on "jewishsports.com" that his wife is from a religiously conservative Jewish family, and he converted after studying Judaism after many years.
Yes he is, I heard he converted because his wife is Jewish and he wanted to raise his children Jewish.
Thanks all.

Linda Cohn --maybe the ESPN Hall of Fame but that is it...
Yes, Andre is Jewish, and I can tell you from first hand experience that he and his wife Rhonda lead a very nice seder along with his father-in-law, Chuck.
Andre, you made my football Saturday's out there as enjoyable as possible back in the day? G-d Bless and Go Hawks.
Congrats Mr. Tippett!
Hawkeye fan.
